3rd Annual NCFJ OBX Run Oct 11-13, 2013

Hey guys!  Shawn (Droop07FJ) and myself have taken on the task of organizing this get together. 

We're planning on Columbus Day weekend and we are still looking into the fine details.

So far, Shawn has arranged a deal with the Hampton Inn in Corolla.  This is the same hotel the group used last year, just north of Kitty Hawk. Hampton Inn has a 2 night minimum because of the holiday. They have several room options, but for a general idea of price: a room with 2 queen beds with an ocean view would be around $256 for the weekend, a room with 2 queen beds and no ocean view would be $199.

I'll update again as we get more information.

havent heard from David B. on here in a while...he is usually the one that will start the looking into of whatever needs to be looked into ...

 I will be looking into this shortly. I will also be looking at soliciting a volunteer to possibly take point on this, much like Paul W did last year. Of course, my first invitation would be to Paul W since he did an awesome job last year!

I may have to skip this years OBX run.....do to some "unfortunate circumstances" (not really unfortunate.....I HAVE to make a tip to Aruba for 7 days to attend a wedding in October..... )

But I would be glad to assist the point man in anyway needed......

There is some good interest from individuals on an OBX event. So, I would love to have a 3rd Annual OBX meet planned....even though I personally may have to miss it... (I will see what I can do...)

So, over on Facebook, we are getting ALOT of response for an OBX run......I will open an official thread here and get a list going......looks like I will have to make time to attend this event!

We have some very cool NCFJ veterans that want to attend (Flushead, Mike, Ryland, Jennifer and possibly Jami) and ALOT of newer folks!!!

So, it looks like I will be making the trek after all!

Love OBX and really like hanging with the guys that are wanting to go! Add to that the chance to meet some new NCFJ'ers and I HAVE to go!!!

 We would again look to have those staying in a hotel, stay at the Hampton Inn at Duck.....I believe we can again get a group discount!

i would tentatively like to say Angie and i are in.  We didnt like missing last year although maybe for a good thing since it was a weather nightmare.  This year i know will have better weather.  i would love to meet the new to the forum folks and see old friends.

David B: Based on last year....I LIKE how you roll Scott Flushing....the only thing is.....we want to be mindful of an approaching hurricane......and the effects said hurricane can have on the beach road back to Duck.......LOL

oh yeah jsut talked to Angie ...and we are in!! now lets get this thing rolling...the earlier we start the planning the better it will be for everyone getting a block of rooms or a house...not to mention asking for time off and the like!

Yup, usually around the first or second week in October if I'm not mistaken.

This looks to be pushing up against a trip to Windrock...any chance of it being later/earlier?

Any more info on this? I would really love to attend but if I don't get my time off request in soon I fear I wont be able to make it.

I want to go ahead and throw my $.02 in and say that the weekends of October 5th & 19th are the best two options for me.

im down for any weekend...problem is noone has made a date. Im not sure that Paul Ward wants to get in on the planning as he has done alot for the last couple of years and its hard in my opinion to have someone in the triad or triangle or west to do so as it is a distance.  I have to admit that at this point i am concentrating on the URE ride in Sept.  Got alot of stuff to get done and covered.  if someone wants to take the lead i know alot of us would appreciate it.

now we are talking Karl! All is left is to clear it with the wife. Although I don't think it will take much considering she loves the beach.

Yeah, I was just throwing out a date to say there's a date.  I think there will be a new "official" thread set up tomorrow to actually pick a date that works best for everyone.

All - Karl P and Shawn F have volunteered will be putting this event together...they will be posting further info as it come available! Thanks guys!

WOW awesome!! Karl and Shawn lets get this together...personally i need to know exactly what dates this will take place just so i can ask off.  Basically that is all i need!! im there!
