Gulches ORV Park - February 17, 2013

It was fun. Definitely the most challenging it s ever been for us. I got to explore the limits of my break over angle a few times too - thanks to peer pressure on one of 'em....

Well on a side note I got the E-Locker working again. Now I can have fun again

^^ it's like Dejavu all over again.....

Have I said that in the past? LOL

Well it works like a charm now, and if for whatever reason it were to fail I would engage it manually

We had allot of fun and yeah the trails out there were a little more challenging do to the rain and muck or as I like to call it cake batter just not as sweet, lol.

I don't know the trail#'s or names but I took the right line on J-Gees Hill but didn't make the video

This park is pretty small and some of trails we ran were pretty nasty with the chance to get even nastier. I kissed a small tree with the front passenger side of my bumper. I guess it gives me some more character,lol. With a nice drop off / rock climb on the rear passenger side and a big dip and rock climb on the front drivers side, and a little tree I was inching towards on the front passenger side thinking I might just hit my tire on, I hear Lisa say "your going to hit that tree" not sounding to concerned I was paying more attention to the line I was on not wanting to get off track and then a little thump of the tree. At least I wasn't the only one to hit it. I should of got the ax out and took care of business as well as listened to my wife. It's really just a scratch though. The main concern for me on these trails were the clearance of my front/rear bumpers. Being out there made me wish I had an exo cage and sas with front/rear bumpers and lockers but I think my IFS and ATRAC faired well.

We were out there for abut 6 hours but it didn't seem that long. I enjoyed wheeling, hanging out and watching you guys challenge your selves. Until next time. I really miss seeing some of you guys and can't wait for my little guy to get a little bigger so we can come out more often.

Great pics Bob. Did anyone make it up the BIG round rock in the rock garden. I see Austin was pulled up to it

Austin made one attempt at it, and nailed his bumper pretty hard. The whole bottom was a soupy mess, so there wasn't much of a chance to even get started up the rock.

Yeah Austin's bumper had a rough day.

And I am not leading on the February 17th run.

Hah! I think I might finally have an idea of how to navigate the park now, so I don't mind leading...

Yeah well I hope so, because I am tired of it. Getting blamed for there not being enough easy trails kind of hit a nerve. I mean anyone who has ridden with me would tell you I am not one to force hard trails on anyone. I like easy trails too, there just aren't hours of them at the Gulches.

I wouldn't let that bother you. I think those guys were more nervous than anything else. If you only do the easy trails, you'll be done in an hour. I don't think they realized that.

What's to be nervous about? When you have 33" nitto mud grapplers wrapped around a sweet 20" wheel, you are good to go!

ok so whats the deal for the 17th? i cant remember what page but i think i skimmed over what the plan was....or something like that...is there anyone driving up on Saturday late? and who is camping in the park? and who is staying in cabins/hotel? jsut need to know so i can plan accordingly...im not sure if Angie is gonna be with me..

Meet time will be around 9:30, with departure to the trails at 10:00. Returning home is on you. I have to be back by 8. I have to get ready for The Walking Dead!

since i have never been ..where is the meeting place...

There is an old house (now office) at the entrance. You have to meet there and sign the waiver.

Depending on the weather, I may camp. But more than likely I will stay in SpartanBurg. About 40 minutes away
