Richland Road Sunday October 28th

Was there a realistic time/distance stated for getting from the end of Richland over to the start of the 105 trail? Seems to be some conflicting times. Is that still the plan?

From what I can tell it's an hour away to the start of 105. At the end of 105 you are about 2 hours from Charlotte.

yeah wish we could do the 105...but no sense in driving further south ...we will just do the richland rd. part of the trip...

I am going to say yay to hwy 105. However a lot of this is going to depend on when we pull out of Walmart and complete Richland road. Airing up tires too. Kids are also a wild card. Put me in the yay column though.

OK, well whoever wanted to depart after Richlands is more thank welcome, but as long as someone will join me I am game to hit 105.

I won't air down for Richlands not really needed, especially since we don't go into the creek and all that jazz

I've been trying to figure out where Richland road and this 105 are? Someone should add it to the members map maybe? Unless there is one someone can post. Sounds like a fun ride (for a later time )

Richland Road is about 10-15 miles north of Lenoir on Hwy 321. It ends in Blowing Rock. The start of the road is on mapquest



Hwy 105 is about an hour southwest of Blowing rock. It ends near Morganton I believe.

I would say the start of 105 is a less then an hour from the end of Richland Rd. Our cabin is 15 minutes from the end of Richland Rd and only about 30 from my cabin to 105. We took 105 home last weekend but it was too foggy to enjoy the view so I may hit it again this weekend while I'm up there.

Yea good call Derek, Google Maps says 56 minutes, and I can usually do everything 15 minutes faster than what they say, which would put it just around 45 minutes

Not to disagree, because I have not made the trip. However I think we can anticipate the parkway being full. Also I am sure a few people will want to stop along the parkway and take pictures here and there. If it is raining, maybe not, but then we will have more fun on the trail!

I'll probably make the call once we exit Richland.

I also won't air down for Richland though. Not much need for it, other than making it a bit smoother over some of the rocky parts of the road.

And that's fine, I'm in no rush. The colors are near peak right now, so there should still be plenty of color next weekend, although it will be past peak

I'm starting to get nervous, the leaves are changing down here in Charlotte.

Blowing Rock was peaking last week when I went through.

I'm heading to Boone tomorrow evening ill let you guys know what it's looking like.

Yea well it will be past peak, but there will be some color, even if it is all on the ground decaying.

It doesn't go away that quickly. I am sure there will be some color.

I may be backing out of this guys, probably going to have a family emergency here in a little bit. I will have to take off towards Nebraska probably by Wednesday, no clue when I will be back
