Just get a magnifying glass and read that so called owner's manual that came with it. At least read what the M buttons do and you'll be fine...and adjust the squelch until the static sound is gone. Hell it took me about 10 minutes to figure out how to get the battery pack off of it.
Mine arrived Monday and the Cobra antenna was missing the set screw and the rubber boot on the bottom was ripped. Luckily Amazon sent me a replacement antenna which I got today. I keep siting here listening to the weather Sleep

hahaha yeah, the weather is about the only thing that comes in!

I was on the highway the other day and I had the big antenna hooked up. I kept hitting SCAN because there were 4 big rigs by me but nothing came in. I BARELY heard people talking but it was so staticy and broken up you couldnt make out a word.

I would adjust the squelch until the white noise was gone, hit SCAN, and it would just go through 1-40 but not stop on anything.

I dont get it.

I haven't used it in FJ mode yet, just handheld while sitting in the house. I was picking up crystal clear chat by some high powered users on 22. We'll figure it out at the the OBX if you don't before then.

I've just got my antenna cable draped to the back and out the back door up to the roof. What's everyone else doing for temporary installments?

I'll bring the SWR meeter. As far as cable routing, since mine is temp too, I'll just run it down the back edge of the driver side rear door, or through the back door. With some tie wraps and the roof rack, it shouldn't flap around or look like poop.

Ryland, I had mine set up same as you but passenger side.Through the rear door would be great but I feel the door would smash the cable.

The door doesn't smash the cable, the seal of the door "forms" around the cable when the door is closed on it. That is how I ran it all week in Colorado with no issues....even caught in a sudden rain storm, no issues.

David hou talking about the passenger "mini" door or the massive rear door? I don't think the rear one has that seal... that's the one I was referring to.

Good thread; I'm looking to do a CB before Summit next year Wink I was looking at the Cobra 75WX but it would be very nice to have one I can take out of the rig like this one.

For those running firesticks, any issue with it getting caught on something and swinging back into the rear door or window? I'm VERY curious about this because we run Hurricane Creek a lot and have branches trying to remove the roof rack and paint off the roof; I know an antenna would catch (I would mount on a spring) but I wonder if it would flex back and smack the FJ hard...like every 5 feet!

I have a 4' firestick and have ran up under branches I have never once had the antenna come back and hit the FJ. I too and running the spring with the quick disconnect and have had absolutely no problems. Rolando let me know when your gonna install the Bandi and if you have any questions.

It's better to ask for forgiveness than permission!

I really liked my setup with the Cobra antenna... I will be going Firestick on a Bandi mount sometime in the future as well!

Ummm, I think he ran it the same way you ran yours Nick. Im not 100% sure though. His was the same as yours except he doesnt have the quick release thing and he fabbed up a little thing to hold the antenna down when its not being used. Im totally stealing that idea once I figure it out. lol
