| Nick, once you run the cable for the firestik, how will you mount the CB? Or will it just be there for when you need it? Powered by 12v outlet, or wired? | |

- David, I'm thinking of buying this or a similar unit for OBX. How does it work without the antenna upgrade? I don't really want the magnetic antenna on my truck but might upgrade to the bandi mount down the road.
Outside the truck, it works fine with the little flexible antenna attached to the unit. INSIDE, it is not as good - too much interference from the truck. But all HHs are like that. The magnetic antenna is not bad, it has a rubber bottom and will not hurt the truck and is a good temp solution. I will eventually go with a Bandi mount though.

Congrats! Was tha Bandi mount difficult? I will probably go this route so any help would be appreciated!

| Rolando, Looks like my antenna will be here tomorrow and the radio should be here Friday so I assume yours will be here by the weekend too! Gives me a toy to play with for the weekend... |

| Antenna today for sure! Radio maybe today but definitely tomorrow! Not sure why the delivery was FedEX all the way to the local USPS office and then let them deliver? Weird! |

| Interesting it has a battery pack for standard batteries and a pack for rechargeables? That's pretty cool! I was planning to install my skid plates tonight when I get home... Looks like it will be a full garage night tonight! |

| Yeah I thought that was pretty cool too although, for some reason, I thought it had two rechargable packs. Wasn't expecting to need actual batteries. | |

| Me either... I "hoped" there would be a recharge pack... Wonder if there is... I don't have time to check the web today but I will later and tomorrow. |

| So I found my old cb and felt it was no longer a viable option, mostly due the smoke that came out of it when I tried it out. I must have tossed it around one too many times over the years. Soooooo, new cb just ordered. I am assimilating and getting the Midland like David, Rolando & Paul have. | |

| Im confused about something. What kind of range should we get with just the antenna attached to the base and the batteries? aka, "portable" mode. | |

I believe 1 mile is the stated range with the little rubber antenna and battery pack attached.

| I would think about 2 miles on lighter power and the cobra antenna. I agree with David full portable. |
