Copy pasted from the blue room:

First let me describe my set up.

i will have 2: Duralast Platinum/Battery (34R-AGM) | AutoZone.com
im using a Engo9000 winch as my only big power hog.

my plan was to wire the winch to the spare isolated battery and isolate
it with a simple starter solenoid run to a switch in the cab.

now, you tell me if this is a go or a no go,

my other option is to parallel the battery's and run the winch off of
both with no isolation as if both battery's were one. this would give
me more power and more line speed, but in the event of a large drain
possibly leave me with a no start. but again, more power.. and IF they
are drained heavily 2 simi dead battery's still might start the truck.

so .. whats your input?

personally i would go with isolating one battery...having a "slow" pull or lower pull power will not compare to two dead batteries...however what are the chances of killing two batteries...not very high
and since the winch is the only "big" power hog the worst thing you will do is leave your lights or doors open or run the radio for 12 hours...LOL

I would have to go with dewey and isolate the winch battery. The benefit of having them parallel does not out weigh the back up capability of that battery. And if you had my type of luck you would be stuck in the middle of no where when the batteries decided to go. Having a second option isolated is a great idea. But that is just my opinion.
