| My 2011 has developed a squeak in the what sounds like the right rear. Happens when making a right turn with a dip or rise (flex type turn). I think it's inside but it's hard to tell when driving. I need to get somebody to ride back there and listen, maybe tomorrow at the meet. Anybody else had this? | |

I bet it's the rear seat latch. Mine has done this too, it's a known issue with FJ's. Some people put a thin layer of Vaseline or some lubricant (not too messy) on the seat latch and it'll go away for a while.

| My squeak has started to come back too, now that I think about it. I think I'll put a little electrical tape on the latch and see how that works this time. - bigdogdewey2 wrote:

You mean it's hard to let the seat down? I've never heard of that issue.

Haha damn, that's crazy! Mine just folds up effortlessly. Are you sure the bottom bolts at the hinges are tight?

| Thanks for the input. I'll lube or tape the latch tomorrow, this way by the time I get to Charlotte I should know if it's gone. | |

Nothing like a good road trip to test out a fix!

| Ryland. Mine squeaks just as you describe from time to time. All I do is release the top and give it a good slam back into place and th e squeak disappears for months. When it comes back, repeat the process | |

| I have that squeak as well, I think. Does it sound like styrofoam rubbing together to you guys? This has been going on in my FJ since about a month or 2 into ownership. Sometimes it is there and sometimes it's not. I know you guys are talking about it being the rear seat but I have played around with it with no results. Mine could be coming from something else possibly. | |

| Yes, Jami, like a styrofoam squeak. The blue room posts had mentions of it being worse when it is damp out which seems true on mine too. | |

| My 07 had a squeak in it as well. It went away after I had taken out the rear seat and put in a platform in it's place. | |
