Looks like the 20 th is a work day at URE. They're planning some work on Daniel to block off the bypass. I wonder if they'll have the trail closed off while they work on it?

The bypass for the first ledge. We saw a couple folks use it when we were out there. It is super sketchy and unsafe, not to mention illegal, it is not part of the trail network. The bypasses are pretty much what got Kodak closed, so they need to be kept in check

Well I have been there before I workdays and they don't block off the trials from what I see, there is plenty of area there for them to stay to the side

When I went to workdays we never blocked off trails. Just put huge signs up saying men at work. But somehow there's always an idiot on a dirtbike who almost kills himself running into your car.

Brings me to a question. If (inevitably when) plans change to Uwharrie, would I even be able to hang with y'all. I mean if it is Brian, Casey, and Nick (maybe Darrell?)....you guys can probably make a lot I cannot there - like Daniel. Is there a bypass for Daniel? Just trying to gauge my own interest in the trip if that were to be the case. I have no qualms with not going if I were to hinder a group Smile

Oh you will be fine, the place also dries out very quickly

Darryl climbed Daniel just as easy as the rest of us when he was completely stock - with street tires. He ripped one of the tires in half at the top - but still made it Smile

You could always borrow a nice set of 285's I have laying around..... tongue

Honestly Adam, I would not want to take an FJ up the 1st ledge of Daniel with out a full lift and 33s. It can be done, but I would not want to do it. There is no bypass for this ledge. Its really what defines the trail difficulty.

Good news is it is only that one area. If you looked at it and decided against it, you could go fromt he other direction and meet everyone on the trail.

That was what I was wondering. If I can get around it and not hold back the group I am fine with that. Sounds like conditions will be just like last time anyway lol

You could always park at one of the lots and could ride along with one of us. Then pick up your FJ before the next trail.

"The way the weather looks for this weekend we will be closed Friday but able to open Saturday for most rigs. I am thinking Uwharrie, we can plan for a Gulches ride again in the near future
