I am pretty set on going with a more aggressive rubber though, so it looks like the KM2 is the way.
Now...255, or 285?!? 255, cheaper, taller, better mpg, could argue better traction. The aesthetics would be the only down fall. Personally I think they look cool like a safari jeep. However I am not a fan of them with aftermarket bumpers. Thus my main reason for changing from them. |

| Here's another tire with great reviews. It's basically a Duratrac on steroids.

| Yep. E rated 2ply sidewall, which was odd. | |

| Yeah, I was thinking E rated were 3ply, but this is the most I've ever studied up on tires...other than bicycle... | |

| I also vote for the Falken Rocky Mountains for an AT tire. I was very impressed with their performance at URE and they're very quiet on road. They're on a friend's Rubicon and if I ever decide to get rid of my MTs, I'd try them out first.
I will never get an E rated tire again for anything except a towing vehicle. Rough ride, noisier and crappier off road in general vs their D rated counterparts. Been there, done that, learned my lesson.

Actually, I think the 285 in 17" is indeed 3ply. The 16" is 2ply.

| That goes out the window since Paul has 16's. he's old though, and that lettering on the sidewall is quite small. I won't believe it till I see a pic of the spec on the sidewall | |

| I am still on stock A\T's because I only have 11k miles and am a ways away from new tires. but I can comment on the Fierce AT tire. They are SOFT. A guy that is stationed out here with me had them one his ranger and ripped a side wall on a curb rub. Literally driving down the road and had slight oversteer and before straightening out brushed the curb. Rubbed through the side wall and popped. This sounds extremely ridiculous, however I was in the passenger seat. When we got out to see what was in the tire, it looked like the tire had been pinched open. Like Brian said, this is my meaningless opinion but this will prevent me from ever purchasing those tires. | |

This doesnt look like a Duratrac tire . What are you trying to pull? JK, My Hankooks had 2 ply listed on the site. This was one of the perceived draw backs. However they are stamped on the side as 3 ply! - Speedrye wrote:

Once we got him to wear a bikini and dance like a monkey for $13. Now that they are clamping down on his budget, he might do it for $1.75. |

| Paul - now we need a wider angle shot to make sure that's actually a Duratrac! That is very strange though. Mine said 2-ply, and there's only 1 part number listed for the 285/75/16, so I don't see any option to choose a 2 or 3 ply. Plus, when I was at DT, I looked at all the Duratracs they had out, and they were all 2-ply. You may have gotten the 1 3ply set in existence.... | |

I was on the fence between the Fierce and the MTR in the 315 size. Glad I went MTR. Although, I did have Goodyear confirm that the Fierce was indeed 3ply sidewall in the 315 size.

| Looks like km2's are the way to go for me. I'm leaning towards the 285 now, mostly for rim protection... | |

| I recall a link from the blue room to some expedition/4x4 site that went really in depth on running pizza cutters. I need to read up on that before doing the deed.
Sure would be nice to just smack them on and go.
If I do the 285 my plan is to do the bmc, and hope I can wheel it w/out lifting...

| Does 1200 for 5 sound like a good deal, smoking deal, or just right?
From what I have seen looking around on the web, it is the best price so far.
