yeah you're absolutely right . The stainless steps/sliders are by no means able to take a real pounding. They are primarily steps, but can handle actual sliding across rocks.A hard hit i'm sure would dent or bend them up.But for right now until i either buy ,make or have some quality sliders made for me i figure any protection is better than none. And most importantly use my hard head and not go in situations that my rig is not set up for.
I am going to disagree with you and warn you against leaving these on. If they take a hard hit they can actually cause damage to the body since that is where they attach. They will reduce your ground clearance and I really think you are better off with out these.

About taking them off, they can't support the weight of the truck, maybe 200 pounds, but no more.

I just got back from Windrock. Ran (IIRC) 22, 35, 36, and 3. 35 and 3 were fun. It was raining a good bit of the time which made things more "interesting."
And yes, the place is HUGE.

If I didn't have my MetalTech sliders and rear bumper I would have had a bunch. On Saturday we ran 35, 36 and 3. There were 6 trucks: DII on 35's, Me on 33's, A 62 on 35's, a 60 on 31s, a 4 Runner on 33s, and a 40 on 35's. The DII took damage to the rear quarter, the 62 to the passenger roof line, the 60 to the driver's door and passenger's quarter, and the 4Runner a bit to the rear. The 40 and I made it through without significant damage due to our armor.

Would you say some, or all of the damage was mainly due to the slick conditions? Or was it damage that would have happened regardless of weather?

Most of the damage was not due to slick conditions. The only damage that was because of slick conditions was slight door damage to the 60 on 31s and the major damage to the same 60 was because of a tree, or actually a couple of trees. All other damage was because of rocks or trees on Difficult rated trails.

What we usually do is let people that have never wheeled there look at 15 first, run 15 and you will know your comfort level and what to run the rest of the weekend.

Windrock is so big you need to kind of link trails together or you will spend all your time cruising the gravel roads.

Yep I am excited. Its looking good that I will be taking the jeep. I was very fortunate with my part-off sale, so eveything has been ordered. I might have to drive down to Nick's Garage to get some help putting on some armor if I am short on time.

Its all going to depend on when it comes in. The Jeep will be lifted, so shouldnt be too hard. It will just be a matter of doing it.
Casey, are you going ot have a Radio?

I'm on the hunt for a bumper myself. Put a pretty good gouge in the stocker on Daniel last time out, which made me realize I may want some more clearance for Windrock....

Brian once told a story of this brother he has, that supposedly gets a new vehicle every 6 months. I'm beginning to wonder if Brian himself is this brother?

If it is already dented, you might as well leave it on until after. It would make for better video.
