| Does anyone use a hammock when they camp? I am going to add 1 or 2 to my gear. I will probably make them myself.
Has anyone else made one? What about the bugs...eeeek!

| Tyler hammock camps. He is tonight in a swamp. I am pretty sure the bugs are going to kill him. The Gulches had bug swarming everywhere. |

| Yep. Tyler slept in the Hammock at URE. He said it was tough having to be on your back the whole time and not able to move much. I'm sure right about now he's a bloody mess from bug bites out at Gulches | |

| Ya the hammock wasn't too bad this time. It cooled off nicely and we had a fire so the bugs weren't too bad. I slept better but it's a little different for me since I am six foot tall. | |

| I'm a little behind on this thread, but I use a hammock on every backpacking trip I go on. If it gets too cold I just stake the tarp real low and sleep on the ground. Much easier the carrying a tent. | |

| I started hammock camping just this year using a buddy's extra pack, and I love it! Set up time is simple, sleeping is comfortable (I recommend a sleeping pad, fly, and bug net). I just purchased a double parachute 350-pound hammock from WOOT.com for $25 incl. shipping, and it comes with everything needed! Can't beat that price anywhere! | |

| i agree with the hammock camping, wife not so much, needs a zipper between her and the outside world whiles she sleeps.
REI had some cheap ones on-line a week ago.

| I also use a hammock when I backpack. I have a Hennessy Expedition hammock. It has served me well and has some cool features like a built in mesh net to keep bugs out and a rain fly with funnels that attach to water bottles so you can trap water. | |

Nothing finer than a Hennessy hammock! I'm quite jealous!

| I haven't seen a Hennessy hammock before. I've got an ENO doublenest with the dryfly. Absolutely love it! Spence, where all do you backpack? | |

| It's been a while since I've gone backpacking but I would take weekend trips on the URE hiking trails and sections of the Appalachian Trail | |
