Feeler Thread - NCFJ Cruisers OBX Trip Fall 2012

I'm high-jacking Nick's thread since he already had some good discussion going;

This thread now is to serve as a feeler to help us decide what dates we should consider for the annual trip to the OBX. There are some obvious dates/events to consider around this time. Labor day is September 3rd (rates for everything should be cheaper after this date) and Nick and Ashley's wedding is on Oct. 20th (this will be updated when I get confirmation on what date it is... I think it's either the 6th or the 13th(fixed it for you David:D )).

We're thinking of going for somewhere around 3-5 days. Maybe a Saturday - Thursday.

With all this being said none of it's in stone. Talk among yourselves and post all your thoughts here!

Now that I've met most of you crazies... I'm game for this 100%. The only con to this and I'm by no means trying to shoot this down but this might deter new people from coming to these types of events. Again this is a great idea but we may want to consider this. For example the OBX event was the first time Nicole and I attended anything and this might have swayed our attendance.

So we might want to include an alternative for lodging for those types.

I think we should go this route (beach house) though for the core group.

that is a really nice place...i mean REALLY nice place...prices look good too...and to have everyone there in one place thats a great idea too...

Yes Paul I was thinking the same thing. That was mine and Ashleys first event also so we would be the same way. But def the core group would be awesome and I mean we could always have everyone over while down there. Me and ash were looking for a house to rent after we get married in October and stumbled upon this and first thing I thought was NCFJ haha. But im going to do some more looking up towards Carova just so there are other options.

I agree as well on the dual option for accommodations. I am definitely in for a house though. Nicky also thinks it is a great idea too! Thanks Nick for getting the info!

Anytime I was just messing around. I will def keep looking we have a few connections down that way I will try and get in touch with. The options I posted were just a few of a bunch and prices range alot so theres many different options. David you think everyone would want to stay up towards Carova??

I just looked at the pictures for the first house...it has a theater. I am SO in. The wife says as long as we have a room to ourselves to sleep in...she's good.

haha I think the first one has 10 bedrooms and sleeps around 20. Some of the houses up towards Carova arent much more in price and some have 20 bedrooms there are a ton of options!!

i love the idea...and im assuming however that the farther north we go the cheaper ? that is ofcourse a guess...i like the idea of all of us being in one place..cheaper dinners...and the like....lol...

yes Mike for some reason in the off season and for the most part over all Carova beach(4x4 area) is always cheaper and more fun usually!!!

well also being closer to the beach like that in Corova...that just makes it that much better!!!!

No that is a plan. It might have to be a little later this year for me to make it. Depends on my son's soccer season.

Oh yeah I would love for it to be September as October is booked for me! But these are just thoughts.

No offense, everyone we have met so far has been awsome. However we would probably find some where nearby to camp. We would definately join in with the group activities though. Sorry it is just how we are. Social but not full time social.

If this is anytime from mid Oct or later we should be able to make it.
