| I'd rather go in daylight personally. Part of the fun of a snow ride is the scenery I think. Temps are going to be well below freezing in the Blowing Rock area tomorrow, so if they get a good amount of snow overnight, it should still be there all of Friday - especially in the shade of the woods.
That said - not sure I'll even be able to go anyway, unless we get enough snow here to give me an excuse not to go to work......

| I just checked the weather and it looks like it is going start snowing heavily in the earlier afternoon (for Lenoir) and last until the early morning. I think this could be a good snowfall. Doesnt look like it will snow here until 9ish my school system wont be canceling (if at all) until the morning. They drag their feet on that stuff. Night trippers will get to see some heavy snowfall coming down, probably even on the way to Lenoir. Day trippers are probably going to see some good accumulation and scenary. |

| I checked out a local (Lake Norman Crawlers) group to see if they are planning anything. They had mentioned it earlier. They are mainly jeep guys and not nearly as cool as you guys. Anyway, one of them posted this about a trip up there last weekend. Be alert, maybe even bring a chainsaw.
Lost a tire on saturday. Dead. Shredded. Totalled. Destroyed. Gone. Dead. Finito. Kaput. The End.
I was going to buy tires once I got my taxes done. I have 2 that are 30% and 3 that are 60%. This was one of the "good" ones.
Goose, Becca and I ran Richland Rd on Saturday. A hugenormous tree was down across the trial. It may have even been 2 trees. Someone had cut a bypass around it and cut one of the trees so that the stump was right against the edge of the trail and very sharp. I should have taken a picture of it, but changing the tire was the priority.
So I don't plan on replacing the tire. I'll just run w/o a spare until I can get 5 new tires. Also sucks because it's one less tire I can sell when I get my new ones.

| I rode with those guys a few times. It's all Jeeps. And they don't do many rides. They plan a ride months in advance. It was frustrating - but they are a good bunch of guys.
A tree in the trail is a bit worrisome, since it sounds like it may have been too big to move properly.

| The tree is not a deterrent for me, just thought I would give a heads up to be alert for it. Besides, I keep a hatchet in my recovery bag. I also received a fiscar 28" splitting axe for Christmas. So I am good to go. |

| If it were on the side of a moutain pass, maybe but it could easily be in a flat spot that can be driven around. The guys didnt seem to discuss it in a manner that would make me worry. Besides its like overlanding, meeting the obstacles that you run into. |

| Doesn't look like there'll be enough snow around here to close schools. | |

| I think the Lenoir/BlowingRock area will get a good amount of snow. I think we will get an inch or two on the grass here in Northern Charlotte. I think they will wait until 6:00 in the morning to call off school.
If school is called off, the wife and I are going! |

| Casey, I know what you mean. If students are there I can't take the day off. If they call it an optional (not really optional) work day I have enough leave built up to not go it.
Adam, this is an easy fix. Go tomorrow, stay at a hotel between Boone and Greensboro. Work from there. You actually be saving driving, by combining the two trips. |
