The Official 2013 Snow Day Richland Road Trail Ride

Looks like we'll be heading to RR on Friday! Good stuff to talk about on Saturday!

It would have to be a Friday run. Temp is too high to last. Would probably need to be 4" or more to make it worth it.

I can only go if they call off school. I wont know that until 6:00 am Friday morning. This might just be something to get our hopes up, but definitely something to watch and see what happens.

This heat wave will not let anything stick yet for sure. Maybe if temps steady out in a week or two then maybe there will be accumulation. 4" will melt into just a mess the second daylight hits!

This is true, but it is a little more resistance to the sun. It will definitely be gone by 2 in the afternoon. I think IF there actually is 4-5" it will hold there through lunch and after that you are on the back side where the sun hasn't hit yet.

Brian...my heart was in this...so the second you know if school is out...you need to post up...i will make a good excuse to go if thats the case...not to mention that i am probably putting in my notice at the job i am currently with...so this may just be a good thing...

Greensboro is supposed to get 1-3 inches on thursday night which means that RICHLAND RD. WILL get at a minimum of 3 inches...also due to the fact that the trail is mostly tree covered the sun wont get thru easily...i am willing to bet a chunk that if we do in fact get snow that there will be plenty to play in at Richland Rd.

This won't be enough of an event to spur my interest in driving 4 hours.

We should know more tomorrow night and if there is snow I will surely be checking school closings.

Yea, and I am happy that you are excited Brian. But I will go ahead and apologize in advance for the preceding storm system that has been dubbed a winter storm

I have a thought... I know that's scary but here it goes! Lets go to Richland Rd late tomorrow and catch a night ride WHILE its snowing!!

The bulk of the snow is not suppose to hit before midnight. That's when the temps are dropping. It's not likely for them to cancel my school until the morning. How late would you want to go?

what i saw tonight was that the snow is to start here in the afternoon...jsut repeating what i saw...

Whenever really. Richland takes a good 4 hours so even of we started out at 10p we'd still have time to catch some snow. If it doesn't snow much and they do not cancel school we can all go to work as zombies on Friday!

Yeah, I am too old for that. Perhaps there could be two groups. The night group can report back first hand details about conditions.

Oh gotcha. I would love to do a night run, but I can't unless school is canceled. My day starts at 6:15. Just not enough time for this old man to do both. I also think its going to be mixed with rain until closer to midnight. Nothing is really going to stick in quantities until the temp drops below freezing.

Now if this does turn out to be a winter storm and they call it an optional teacher workday on Friday, I might ride out with you guys at night.

Adrienne is another factor. She will want to go and a late night with the kids might be too hard. We should know more tomorrow afternoon.

If you guys decide to go at night, it won't hurt my feelings at all. I am sure there will be some one who wants to go during the day. I don't mind taking Richland alone. It's pretty tame and cell reception is good.

Weather channel is showing that HEAVY snow will start around 8pm in Lenoir
