Gulches ORV Park - February 17, 2013

Time to sweat in anticipation

Skip is not going to close the park this weekend regardless of weather. This is his biggest weekend of the year and has food vendors and I think even live music planned.

On a side note, the weather is preventing us from going to the zoo on Saturday so we are probably going to make a day trip out of it.

It should be a great trip rain, snow or shine lol I don't care what the weather is gonna be like.

As usual guys, I am right up the road if anyone breaks something bad enough to need to be trailered. Have a good time!

VIA Skip at the Gulches

"Well we have had a drastic weather change in the last 12 hours. The snow and rain storm that was to stay to the north and east has dropped right on us. Looks like rain on the park early then snow. Since we have many campers in the park already we will be open for those of you who want to slosh around in the mud. But for those of you with street tires and bald tires this is not your day. Sunday we will try to open but we will be very slick later in the day once we thaw out. I'm sorry for this change in weather but it is not something I could control."

I was just going to post that. Shouldnt you be on the road!

Please keep us posted on the conditions down there. I'd hate to get up early tomorrow and drive 4 hours just to look at frozen mud.

I know this isn't what anyone wants to hear, but is there any interest in re-scheduling this trip?

It's going to be crowded to begin with. Throw in the rain today, and the trails are gonna be a mess with all the buggies tearing it up in the wet. It's been slick the past few trips there. Although its still fun, I was really hoping for some dry conditions this time around

I go with the group, like a sheep. It would have to be mid March for me though. Personally I dont think it will be dry until April or May. Just the nature of the season.

I have no problem with muddy conditions, so I have no problems with tomorrow.

No, it's only 1.5 for me to Lenoir. I am leaving in 20 minutes.

I may bail out on Gulches this time, and try again mid March. The all-terrains in the slick snot can be a bit too challenging, and it would be a pain having to get the kids in and out in the mud.

I'm still down to go. Looks like Laurens is changing over to snow as we speak, then theyll be out of it before lunch. Wonder just how wet they got? We are just starting to get the rain down here.

Yeah, I dont care if the park is messy, but I'm not up for the 3+/- hour drive in what is boding to be slick/messy secondary road conditions to get there , so despite having looked forward to this for some time, I'm out tomorrow, and definately up for an alternate date.

There is always the Hurricane Creek run next weekend for those planning on Gulches but not HC!

Just buy up some cheap coveralls from Walmart for the kiddies and you are good to go!
