| DATE CHANGED OCTOBER 28th
Okay so I am going to go ahead and throw this out there
As previously advertised I am looking to ride a nice moderate trail at the peak of the fall color spectrum. I think Richlands fits the bill, it's pretty close to me, don't have tons of money to blow on fuel, so that is another plus
Lets see who is interested

| I'm kinda thinking that other trail up there that goes through Linville Falls would be a much nicer fall trip for viewing the colors. Richland is nice, but there really isn't too many panoramic views to take in. | |

| Old hwy 105 is what me and Yuri did a while back that looks over Linville Gorge and there are a ton of overlooks!! But... it is more of a dirt road not many obstacles there but a nice ride!!!! | |

| I'd do both if the head of the Linville trail is a reasonable drive from the exit of the Richland trail. I wouldn't bother airing down for Richland anyway sister. | |

| Okay I don't know where it is in relation to the departure of the Richlands Road trail. Hopefully a more knowledgeable individual will be able to chime in.

| I think the other trail (old highway) is only 20-30 minutes from where Richland road lets out onto the parkway. Brown Mountain has a few views as well. I might make this one. We like to drive up there once in the Fall. |

| The Old HWY 105 begins right outside Linville Falls, just a few minutes from the northern terminus of Richland Road. I just drove it the weekend before last. | |

| Yeah, the plan a couple of weeks ago was Brown Mountain and Richland Road on Saturday, camp, then 105 to start heading back towards Raeford...didnt quite work out like planned.
So I am definately up for a similar weekend, including Brown Mtn in the near future.

| I wouldn't be opposed to doing that this time. There wouldn't be a better time of year to do it.

I have to work, ironically enough, all over the URE National Forest, the 11th through the 18th, so that weekend is out. I think it might still be mostly green this weekend (? the Mountainfolk can chime in here ), but the next couple weekends after that should be good for me...

| Hopefully there'll be a couple of freezes between now and then, but 20th should be good. | |

Nick, can you do a write up on old HWY 105? I know you have commented and posted pics before, but could you put something official together, maybe with maps, directions, pics, area lodging etc? Let me know if you can do this. Shot me an email, PM or call me! Thanks!

| Okay then,
Lets plan it
Richland Road to Highway 105
I don't think Brown Mountain will be possible in the same day

| http://www.carolinaballoonfest.com/carolina_hot_air_balloon_fest_statesville_nc_usa.html The wife and kids love it, so I lose the vote. Actually, I lose the vote once the wife says that's what we're doing that day...... | |
