| Nick, I think you did the worst part of the creek. When you take a right and go around the tree in the middle of the creek is where I always bang stuff up. |

Thanks Brian, I appreciate your understanding. To everyone else who may be scratching their heads.... There are a couple of concerns with wheeling Richland Creek. 1. It is understood that this is a "forgotten" county road, so the main trail is open to all. 2. There may be "boundry issues" in concern to trespassing on private property, namely running the creek "with the water" rather than just crossing it. Also, the "hill" may be on private property as well. 3. Environmental concerns with wheeling in the creek (Think the Tellico closing). We would hate to contribute in ANY way to some environmentalists groups efforts in prohibiting access to yet another of our very few off roading spots in NC. So, have fielded some concerns from members and vendors, I had asked the NCFJ members that posted videos of the "creek play" to remove them from the forum, along with any other pics that may feature travel other than the actual trail.
Thanks to all for your understanding, and please be assured that no one here is trying to be difficult, rather it is just out of concern for our (NCFJ members) love of off-roading that this matter has received this attention. Thanks guys! David

| David, should we contact the Forest Service and volunteer our time to help maintain the area? might that make it a little better in the eyes of the private property owners? i for one do NOT want to see this awesome place go the way of Tellico....i know alot of local folks use the trail ...but could we possibly lead by example? | |

Allpro makes a high clearance one for the FJ but it's expensive. You can always go to the muffler shop and have them cut your piping back and weld in a new higher pipe. or http://forum.ncfjcruisers.com/t382-exhaust-and-nc-inspections

I agree COMPLETELY Mike! I DO NOT want to see any more of our beloved limited off road resources in any chance of jeopardy. Keep me posted.....this could be an NCFJ Cruisers project for you!

| I agree totally with you guys and we need to respect the land and trails systems. If we could do some kind of maintenance clean up then I am all for it. I wouldn't mind pitching in if they will alow us to. As far as where the bounderies go on these trails it may be hard to distinguish them. I think we kept to the correct trail system aside from the hill climb arena. We also bumped into some locals on quads plaing around on some other hill climbs. | |

| I'd be good with a trash pick up run. I always bring a trash bag with me. We could probably fill a few bags just with shotgun shells...... | |

| There was a bagload of trash out there, definitely in that big opening. I think it'd be great to help pick up trash and maintain it just like the workdays at uwharrie. | |

| David and I have talked a bit about the clean up and responsibilities of the trail...id like to be able to get in touch with the US Forestry Service and see is we can come up with a way to do a thorough run down of the place. id like to be able to get an idea of how many people would be willing to get in on a clean up run every so often through out the year. Since its a free run anytime for the most part its not like we would get anything in return other than satisfaction and knowing we did a good deed; but i think that if we can work out a quarterly run specific to clean up it would be good pr for the club and with all the private property owners that back up to the trail itself. we are more than likely going to start a new thread concerning this so lets keep the comments of this to a minimum...although we can move the thread... | |

| Check ownership of the road. I believe it is in part public and then state game land, not USFS. | |

| i may be wrong but FS may stand for Forest Service road...im sure that some of it does belong to the state as in public road but then it turns into something else. The main thing about the road is to stay between the POSTED signs...that is at a minimum...from there it becomes harder to understand who actually has domain over the road itself...it may in fact be a mix of public game land, USFS road, State road and old logging road. | |

| It looks like it may (or may not) cross a very small section of Buffalo Cove Game Land - but it's really hard to tell. It looks like it goes right around the outskirts of a corner of it, but don't know for sure. Very difficult to see who owns the road. It's really half Richland Rd and half Penley Road. | |
