| well My new set up will be here monday and I will be sporting red letter grabbers in the 315 category on new 16" wheels. Not really going to off road the new set up. I dont want these wheels looking like my XD Spy's. So I will be getting play tires for my Spy's. I ordered everything from Discount Tire Direct and so far I have been pleased with their service. I have been a normal Discount Tire customer since I became old enough to purchase my own tires wich sucks by the way. But onto better things. I delt with Wyatt and he answered all my questions and got me a deal we both felt mutual about, Though it still sucks, tires are so dang expensive! I dropped down to a 16" wheel and tire set up for a few reasons, 1. Tires are cheaper. 2. Better selection with tires in the market I wanted and sizes. 3. My wheels were well very well characterized with some earned rock rash and scratches. Now on to the meat of things I was pulling my hair our for weeks looking at tires and well Jumped back and forth like I was on a evil teeter totter. I was finally able to make my decision and sink in to how I wanted this to work out. I did online pricing from various places that people have mentioned and felt that Discount Tire Direct was the best and cheapest option. Staying with my 17" wheels and ordering 35x12.50-17's would have run shipped with replacement certificates 1770.00 plus having to mount and balance these tires I figre 25.00 a tire carry in. is $1895. plus up 20-30 each for a road force mount. So were are now at 2045.00 worst case and I still have rashed wheels and great looking new tires. Also Getting 35's to work well would incur a possible redoing of the body lift to 1.5" there's another 180.00. Fitting a true 35 and making it work is the tricky part. Which might also include not so gentle massaging to the inner fender to clear. I dont want to do that yet! Now the 16" wheel and tire package I ordered $2110.00 with 5 certificates and road force balanced. Heres what Wyatt did. 5 wheels at 625.00 5 tires at 1440.00 5 certificates at 180.00 5 valve stems at 15.00 Road force mounting FREE Discount from wheels and forum (blue Room) and another 50.00 off= -150.00 All this equals 2110.00 to my door. So They are due to be here Monday coming from Phoenix, AZ and I cant wait. These are the wheels the Blue Basher is going to be sporting! They are 16x8.5 with 4.5 back space. I dont care for the murdered out look so much, I like the wheel to POP a little and with the red letters out this ought to be a great looking combination! Now for some of wall I found a nifty little site that let you play with wheel and tire sizes to see if it will work or not. It's not to complicated but if you need halp here it is. http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp Just enter the stock specs for the Fj wheels and tires on the left tire. And here they are. 17" aluminum 265-70-17x7.5 with +15 offset (should be 4.8" of back space) 17" Steel 265-75-17x8 with 0 offset (should be 4.5" of back space) 16" TRD 265-75-16x7.5 with +15 offset (should be 4.8 of back space) 16" Trail Teams 265-75-16x7.5 with 0 offset (should be 4.5 " of back space) Then all you do is enter your new peramiters in the right tire in the same format. I.E. 315-75-16x8.5 with -6 offset Should be 4.5" of back space) And below you will have most of the vital info you need to see if your wanted selection works. If yo plan to run spacers then you can take this in to account on your backspacing or offset. So say you are running a stock fj steel wheel with 4.5" of back space and 1.25" spacers. you subtract the 1.25 from 4.5 and this is your new back space. So 3.25 would be the number you want on the offset. Now that this is done I will review the new shoes once I get them on. Cliff | |

| Probably not with the 315's. When I do the 34x10.5's yes. Im am going to play around and see what fits and what doesn't. I would like to but these tire are a full 2 inches bigger than what I have right now being the tread is almost gone. I will measure everything out and post all my findings up here as far as being true to size and differences. | |

| Alright so far with out the 1.5" wheel spacers the fit great, no rubbing or weird noises. First drive impressions, QUIET, wow I can't even comment on how much quieter these are over any other tire I have owned. Smooth as glass, these things don't have 1 shake or shimmy to them the road force was so worth it. Looks, pictures don't do justice to how these look in person. Oh and my speedo is way off now, but that's why I have a ultra gauge and it is now calibrated. The 4.56 gears seems to have complimented these greatly. Motor is running at a lower rpm and seem to really enjoy life at this range. In town mileage picked up about a 1-1.5 mpg so far. I was expecting some sidewall sway going to such a tall tire on a 16" wheel, well these are no worse than what I had before, I am sure the sidewalls on these tires really helps out in that department. Now to try the spacers and see if I can get away with them on! | |
