Have you guys heard of our warranties being voided if we use synthetic oil? Also, are you guys using regular or synthetic oil and which types??

Thanks!

Cool, thanks. I just read it in the blue room. Toyota makes such a great engine I'm wondering if I should just stick with regular, not synthetic. I know the newer FJs come brand new with synthetic but mines a 2007. Still on the fence.

I doubt it makes a ton of difference between conventional and synthetic. The only thing that will do damage is letting the oil change intervals go for too long. Routine maintenance will keep any engine going strong for a long time.

That's kind of what I'm thinking too. If I had a sports car that took 11 quarts of oil, like my dads old Porsche did I would probably switch. I don't think 6 is enough to make a huge difference.

Had my oil changed today at the dealership and asked about synthetic. They say there is no warrantee issues...they also say there is not yet enough data on the synthetic in FJs to suggest one way or the other. They say it is a matter of owner preference and desire to pay basically double...at least for the toyota brand and them doing the service.

I've got a 2010 and it came with synthetic. I bought the factory 30K Service Package to see if I liked it. When I bought it, the service interval was 5K for oil changes. They have since gone to 10K miles between oil changes due to the synthetic. Since I paid for an oil change every 5K I have been doing that, I dont know if I could bear going 10K on the same oil!

Mine has had synthetic since day one. It does not use any oil what so ever. She has 100K plus on it now. I wished I could say the same about my GTI she has 78K on it been on synthetic since day one and uses about a quart and a half between oil changes. No
