I ventured up to the newest North Carolina State Park yesterday, Elk Mountain State Park, which is located on Meat Camp Road, just off HWY 194, about 7 miles north of Boone, NC. (First road on the right after the Rebel Flag Pole on Meat Camp Road).

Elk Knob State Park consists of a 1.9 mile hike to the top of Elk Mountain, large parking area, and a circular picnic area. Roads were rock and mostly muddy still. They are working on it.

About a mile down the road from the park is Rich Mountain Road, which connects Meat Camp Road over to Zionville to HWY 421, just before Trade, TN.

This looked to be a 1 lane mountain dirt road, full of ruts and other fun stuff.

Has anyone taken that road before?

4" of snow fell in Boone, NC today. Great day to test out the new snow tires.
