| I would like to present the idea of having an official CB channel for the NCFJ Cruisers.com. If you have a different channel in mind or have a good reason why a channel should be used please chime in...I am proposing channel 7 as the official channel.
Thoughts? | |

| Since I know little to nothing about CB's - how far is the range of the average CB, where we'll be hearing chatter from others while on a trail? Even more so, how far can we be to still be able to communicate with each other? Reason I ask, is that I probably won't be up to URE till around noon time on the 28th, so the only way I'll be able to hook up with the others is with the CB (cell doesn't work there). Just don't know how far out I can be to hear anyone. My only experience is watching the Dukes of Hazzard in my younger years..... | |

| The handheld ones won't pick up as far due to the lack of a sizeable antenna. It still might be a challenge, but I am sure you could connect up. It might be 12 before I can leave the camp site. If Adrienne's parents don't come down and watch our littlest one I may go without wheelin that weekend. |

| A more central channel number in the middle of the CB channel spectrum (20 +/-) would work better for reception across differently tuned CBs. | |

Using 7 probably won't be a problem - but staying more in the center of your frequency selection technically should work better for everyone. Use whatever channel you want.

This is actually a good idea. I have been running my CB daily since I travel Interstate to work and listen to 19 (popular channel) alot....good clear signal and when I ask for radio check, I have picked up reception a good 4-6 miles miles in range. 7 is good when we are convoying, but like I said, in the (ch 19) mid range is where I have been lately....
