Feeler: 265/70/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers

I don't see any subforum rules, so I hope feeler threads are OK. If not delete and let me know.

I'm considering going to a larger tire, which would mean ditching the 265/70/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers I have on my FJ now. Would anyone be interested in picking up a set of used tires at a discount? If I could get some cash out of these, I might just make the jump. It is a set of 5 (I rotate the spare).

Looks like you'd pay at least $850 for a new set of five (just the tire, not including the disposal fees, etc). Mine have between 3/4 and 2/3 of the tread left when I had them rotated about 1k miles ago. Would anyone be interested in these at $400 for the set of 5? I'd still lose a lot of value but it would lessen the blow. And I'm not sure if the repair/refund/replacement certificates would transfer over but we could always work something out if you needed to get one replaced.

Just post here or PM me. Guys on here can definitely vouch for me if needed.

Brian, I was considering 285s in Firestone Destination ATs but I'm afraid they're not aggressive enough. I may go with a larger set of Terra Grapplers, or even Duratracs (if I can get over the price tag - OUCH!)

Alright, as promised I went by the tire dealer to get updated measurements. Hasn't changed in the last 1000 miles, lol!

I put the asterisk on the one 10/32 cause he seemed hesitant, so maybe it's closer to a 9.5/32. The tires started life with 13/32, so they have well more than half of their life left. Wish I had asked more than $400!

One tire did require more weight than the others to balance but did balance just fine. I drove it up to 100mph once to test it, no problem; I routinely drive 80mph.

So BOX, I'll PM you and we can work out details.

It sure is a shame to have new tires and not test them out on April 5th.

You punk! I know! Tell you what though, these Duratracs don't handle the road the same as the Terra Grapplers. I mean, they're new and so they're gonna feel somewhat squirmy...and I hope they break in a little and feel better...but they feel real mushy and I actually kicked in ABS on a long cloverleaf exit off the interstate this afternoon without even pushing it . Gonna have to change my driving style for sure.

But can't WAIT to get them off road and in some mud!

Haha, that was funny. I was sitting there writing a text, "So is your FJ silver or....? Which lot?"

It was probably a mall crawler at that. More than half the time I see an FJ around here it's a mom driving it. Then again, most of the time it's a mom (my wife) driving ours, so I guess I shouldn't judge! But no one will be mistaking ours for a mall crawler with those new tires!

Hope you enjoy those Terra Grapplers Darrel, they served me well and I have a feeling we're going to miss them!

I can always sell them back to ya ! It is still gonna be hard to get the money out of that Silver FJ ! LOL
