| Found a place in High Point, The Gun Vault, that does the CCW classes...and from what i have seen a pretty darn tootin fair price....$80 for the class...then of course there is the fee due to the Sherrifs Dept. around $92 dollars ...i talked to them today while picking up some ammor for the .45. Apparently the classes fill pretty quick but they do try to have at least two classes a month... | |

| Someone told me today that there's a "groupon" in Charlotte somewhere for a class for $70 or 80... I assume that doesn't include the mentioned Sherriff Dept fee though. | |

| CCW classes are like anything else, if you shop around you can find good deals. Here in Wake county when I was looking to take my class, they ranged from $75 to $150. I think I settled for a class that was $100. It was a small class of 6 people with a good hands on teaching style. The county fee in Wake county is $80 for the permit itself, and $10 for the fingerprinting and it took about 60 days for the permit to get to me. | |

| How long do you have from when you take the class til you have to apply for the permit? Basically, how long is the class good for? | |

| I have carried ever since I was 21. I always carry everywhere that is legally possible, and that will never change.
I have two different pistols that I go back and forth carrying, a full size Kimber 1911, and a compact Springfield 1911. They are thin enough that I can carry them easily and no one would ever know.
I have a crossbreed holster that was a touch pricey, but worth it.
I spent a couple of my years of my years in the Marine Corps as a Close Quarters Battle instructor and I enjoy teaching other people tactics, and how to shoot well. If anyone here is interested let me know. | |

| I know I saw them on sale at one of the local sporting goods stores last week for $499. Great gun but for some reason it doesn't fit my hand too well. My little sister loves hers though. | |

| i think i have made my mind up about what im gonna buy for a carry gun and that is a Smith & Wesson M&P...probably in a .40....may still go with the .45....i like the extra couple of rounds in the .40...but i really like the stopping power of the .45... | |

| I carry a Springfield 1911 ( Micro Compact Lightweight Operator) daily. It's easily concealable with a 3" barrel and provides the .45ACP knockdown! I've been looking for a .40 also, mainly for outdoor carry duty. Something like a Gen4 Glock 23. This is my carry gun (w/ light removed) : | |

| A lot of the states recognize the permits from other states, so if you wanted one now go for it! | |
