Custom Axe/Shovel Mount

This was my first mod. After searching for an affordable solution, I found this in the Blue Room and completed it for about $40 (not including the axe and shovel of course). Sorry for the huge pictures... not sure how to make them smaller.

Where did you get the clamps...not the Quik-fist ones, but the others.

Oh man, thats a great question. lol. I honestly dont remember but Ill do some digging and see if I can find the name of the company. It was some outdoors company in Oregon I think.

Found it!! Some of the pics might look familiar I remember I actually got the Quick-Fists from the Oregon Company (cheapest I could find) and I got the brackets on Ebay. All the info you need it right here.

This is an old thread...I am looking for these brackets and can't seem to find on Ebay. Anyone know what they are called and where to get them?

OK, found a bunch of different clamps on ebay...what size is the OEM roof rack tubing?

Nice... thats great that theyre tapped already too.

Since those arent stainless, Id recommend spraying them with Rustoleum or something like that, especially if theyre going to be a permanent fixture on the FJ.

Thats about what I paid for mine also.

They're aluminum actually, so no painting needed unless you want them to match the rack or the truck. You might want to make sure the screws are stainless though.

Picked up a couple sets of Quick-fists yesterday and connected to the new aluminum brackets with 1/4-20 1" stainless hex head screws. Make sure you get the 1" (3/4" just a bit too short). Nice snug fit. I will probably grind the inside "corners" so that it slides over the roof rack rails easier and does not scratch.

Hmm, 1" was too long for mine with the quickfists. 3/4" worked perfectly for me. Maybe you're using a larger size or different style of quickfist.
