I know a few of you guys have posted in that other blue place about fog lights (I've seen your posts there).

I am thinking about installing a set behind my grill. I would assume for fog I would need to put them in the lower grill area.

Anyone mounted a set behind the grill (top or bottom)? What would you go with round hella 500s or rectangle hell micro FF, or something else?

What is everyone's thoughts about heat, look, and function.

Any input is appreciated.

your gonna kill the light by putting them behind the grill...you would be better off with them mounted on the bumper in front of the grill...jsut my $.02 worth...

Are you actually using them for fog? I've found lights mounted on the bumper in front of the grill are too high for fog since they just reflect back at you. I realize dealerships mount them there but you want them as low as possible. Mike's right though, since a fog light is meant to be a wide, low light, you'll lose most of it's throw behind the grill. I've seen a few smaller ones cut into the wings or the main body of the bumper itself that look really good.

I figured low was the way to go for fog...I thought behind the grill would be me more good than mounting on the bumper.

We pretty much never have fog up here. Maybe you need to move... It'd also make things much more convenient for picking up your new OBDF bumper.

I vote driving lights. If you haven't noticed I have Hella 500FF driving lights mounted on top of my bumper and they really help out on those dark back roads. I have them wired in to the high beams so they come on when the high beams are switched on. No separate switch used. Just my $.02 worth.

Yeah that switch is for the roof top lights. Didn't think about that when we were discussing it.

before:

fog lights C360_2012-04-20-11-16-52[/img]

after:

basic lug and play with the provided harness (using a switch, not tying into the headlights), used the two holes on the radiator frame (used band bang's install from blue room) a best of all no drilling
