the 120 platform doesnt flex well because there isnt any room for it to flex. It is better balanced than the 3rd gen though where the rear would unload and flex way out but the front only moved 6-7"

The 4th gen with aftermarket lift and control arms gets abotu 9" front and 12" rear travel.

Having driven both you just get used to driving with the different setups.

LOL I hear you about the rear end having a bit too much flex to it.

The 3rd Gen IFS is pretty crappy compered to the 4th.

Pros and cons to both

That is a tight squeeze for some A/T 33's . The fenders on the early 4th gen's are smaller then the later models.

not sure i get what you mean by this...im still very very doubtful that bobby will be able to get anything more than a 285/70 inside those fenderwells...

Two sets of clip holes. Fender plastic was reinstalled by prying it out to the farther holes. Thats how the later 4th gens are.

Chad, are you talking about the front fender liner or did you move the entire fenders up? I was refering to the actual fender height being higher on mine compared to early models. I have trimmed the liners, pushed them forward 2", trimmed the actual bumper and removed the mud flaps up front. On the rear I have removed the mud flaps andplan to trim as needed. Not sure just how much work it will take but I guess I will find out one day.

The rear isnt something you can trim. You have the door and the the gas filler neck in the way. Go get some 285s and be happy.

bobby when you go get your tires you need to ask them if you can flex all your tires ...flex the rear and make sure you flex with a turn in the front...turn your steering wheel all the way both sides...if you dont rub then great but if you rub then you want to make sure what ever you are rubbing on CAN be trimmed...like Chad said you cant trim the door or the gas filler neck...one side might be ok as far as not having the filler neck but the side with the filler neck may not be able to stuff as easily...

i would seriously make sure that when you go "fit" some tires that they allow you to flex all all four corners

Dewey's shelf conquered.... I just went straight over it in 4wd low low... Didnt even hit the gas. that extra 2 ft of ground clearance in a first gen really helps.

Coming up the daniel hill climb I took a the far right line all the way to the top and wound up shearing off all four bolts in the front axles driveshaft flange. Had one set of spares and swapped them in and made it the rest of the way up then broke another set of driveshaft bolts goofing around on the slick granit slab on daniel.

Called it a day after that I was 2wd only.
