I figure I might as well keep up with my FJ's progress of evolution here. Hopefully I'll get to update this more and more Very Happy

In the beginning, there was a ship with a FJ on the way to the US from Japan destined to be mine. Then it arrived at the port and I first saw its image.

Then it traveled up to High Point, NC where it became mine. It was dark when I got home with it. Not a good pic, but the first one I took of it. 02/24/2011

First up was preparing it to tow a soon to purchase camper.

Then I had to invest in some weight distribution hitch stuff which isn't cheap

Everybody kept talking about this URE place so I thought I'd take a Sunday drive to check it out and came back with this

Then I met Rolando and didn't feel as high school girlish about putting on stickers

After a couple of beach trips and camper pulls, I realized I needed to upgrade tires. So on went some GY Wrangler Silent Armors. These are a LT tire so the stiffer side walls will help with the towing and they perform much better offroad than the Dunlop street treads that were OEM

Off with the beat up Toyota body mounted step rails and on with some chassis mounted Metal Tech Mini-bump Sliders Very Happy Now I don't have to worry about those steps hanging up on obstacles. More of a peace of mind thing. Man are these things heavy duty.

I haven't taken a "camper in tow" pic, I always forget to. I will first time out this spring.
The Bruiser sticker was given to us when we met them on the OBX trip.

I hope no hard feelings Darrel, I had actually already ordered the sliders before you posted. I know the Orange Boxx sliders are great and more than I would ever need, but the flush look of the MT's are just more of what I was wanting. I will be getting a Orange Boxx PSD sometime.

Brotherhood of the dunes. I'm putting these pics here more for my own purposes. These are from the OBX on New Years Eve (12/31/2012). It was a blast to spend this time with my best friends and such a magical place. We stopped and the sunset colors on the horizon over the dunes made for a few moments where you just stand/sit there and not utter a word. That is until someone yells "OMG!!! We've got to get a picture of our trucks with this!" A bromance moment.

Sorry Mike, just saw your question. No, no separate beach buggy. My meaning in that is my FJ use is more as a beach buggy than a rock crawling mountain goat.

This picture looks like it would be on the cover of an offroad or 4x4 parts magazine!

Man, I love those sliders. I like the "boxed" look of them. Good stuff.

Used the blue room discount and got the Ricochet air dam for the factory rack. Gives it that finished look. I know there is debate if it reduces wind noise. I personally think it does a little. I know I had a roar sound around 40-45 mph and its gone now.

How's the air dam affect your mileage?

I haven't noticed any difference in MPG.

That's good, I put a Yakima rack on my Grand Cherokee I used to own.  Even with the fairing it cut about three mpg.  Like driving around with a sail on top, haha.
