| I was in the local Toyota dealership the other day, Stevenson in Jacksonville NC, and I ask the parts guy if he had any deals on the OEM steel wheels. The guy let me know that he had some stockpiled not long ago and was selling them for 25 a wheel. Unfortunately the stockpile had been depleted. Does anyone know where I might be able to get some cheap. I don't expect a price as good as 25 a wheel but I wanted to toss it out there and see if anyone knew any other dealerships that might do this with stockpiled wheels? | |

| i have not heard of any dealerships doing this in fact all i have ever heard is that they have jacked up the prices due to the fact that there is a real "want" and demand for them....i have seen them on ebay but for a pretty high price...in fact more than what i paid for my aftermarket steel wheels... | |

| It really depends on when you catch the dealer. Many sell them as "take off" wheels when customers buy a new vehicle and upgrade the wheel package. Your best bet is to call around to local dealers and ask them if they have any steel FJC take off wheels, you may just get lucky.
The steel wheel on the FJC is also listed in the Toyota parts base as a "winter wheel" it was mentioned with the part number in the Blue Room some time ago. If memopry serves the price for the "winter wheel" was considerably cheaper thatn a stock steel wheel for the FJC.
I bought my second set for $200 for a set of 5 off a guy in the blue room.

| Yeah I will try and contact the dealer I bought from in Hickory NC and see if they come across any take off wheels. I will also ask about the winter wheel price this weekend when I am at the dealership down here for my service. | |

| Just asked my dealer about winter wheels and I was told they weren't available in the SouthEast Toyota district. | |

| I would still check around if you are interested. The information that each dealer has varies from dealer to dealer. They are generally not all that well informed.
I know that the guys of the Olde North State Cruisers have a good connection with a parts department of a toyota dealer, might want to check in with them over on MUD.

that is so typical...apparently we dont have winter in the southeast...need to move to northwest or north east....that way you can have a winter and get cool wheels...

| I know out here they don't use salt at all so a winter wheel wouldn't be necessary. It doesn't get bad enough. | |

| I found a guy local selling a set of four with tires at a really good price so I am going to jump on that. He said there is no tpms sensor and I am unsure if that can be added back on or if it is what it is. Anyone have any knowledge on that?
Another random question: I have a chance to get a set of bilsteins off a buddy's rig and my dilemma is simple should I spend the 150 to buy his setup or just pass. I am running the standard oem suspension and he has the TT bilstein setup. Is there really a huge difference worth 150 or should I just hold off for OME? He is giving it all up shocks and coils.

| In regard to the TPMS, this is a function of a special valve stem. THey are rather expensive items. What some have done is to take the valve stems from their first set of rims and put them all into a small pneumatic tire (10" diameter or so) pump that small tire up and store it in the jack compartment.
This way no idiot lights on the dash and you pass inspection.

| I asked my dealership about the idiot light causing you to fail inspection and according to them it doesn't so thats good. I will however probably make the air pressured pipe with the sensors in there. | |
