Well, I picked up the bumper wings from Mike yesterday and it's obviously too cold to paint anytime soon, so pictures will come once I can get some cleaning, priming and painting done.
In related news, I now have a welder thanks to my wonderful wife and Christmas! It's a small Hobart 140 that should handle most anything I need. Otherwise, the only other FJ related item I got was the module to open the rear window via the key fob.
For the remaining winter, I'm hoping to do some maintenance on the FJ. After beating on it at Uwharrie on 12/13 and driving it 1500 hard miles since last Friday, it's in need of some work. All kinds of noises, vibrations, etc. I'll tell you my FJ doesn't care for running 90mph down the highway. Main items upcoming will be:
Replace rear upper links.
Examine rear Icon shocks. Pretty sure both are shot.
Replace rear lower link frame mounts
Replace front CV joints
Replace front pads and rotors
Replace front spindles
Start cleaning the underside of rust.
Analyze the wheel bearings. One or more may be toast.
Tighten my fuse box down to stop rattling
Tighten my bucket intake down to stop rattling under acceleration
Lube anything and everything else I see
Clean mass air sensor and throttle body
That should keep me even busier than I already am. In case I'm not busy enough, the FJ should have a new friend tomorrow as well. Four vehicles and a two car garage is going to be a problem, so I think the Honda is finally going to leave. If anyone needs a 91 Honda Accord with a blown head gasket and all parts to fix for cheap, let me know. New tires, battery, etc. It's a great beater car to save miles on the FJ, I just don't have enough time in the day.
For any of you religious types, any and all prayers for my wife's mom would be appreciated. She's not well and it's not looking good.
