| My buddy James knows how to get there. He may be coming to Hannah's tonight. | |

| It is about 40 minutes west of Asheville just past mile marker 8 on I-40. I mean like a 1/8 mile past the marker, if I remember correctly. The road itself is on the right so you actually drive right off of 40 onto hurricane creek rd. You will drive past some cabins before you even reach the primitive part of the road. I have been there a few times now and enjoy it every time I am out there. | |

I've been charging the jetpack all weekend. I'm hoping it'll make it there and back lol

| If not I heard there is a little place called the Dew Drop Inn just over the next mtn. Plenty of fuel for the jetpack. | |

| I'm heading up to Hurricane Creek in a few minutes if anyone is interested in a spontaneous exploration trip. It'll take me a couple of hours to get there... | |

| Awesome pics - I recognize all of those spots! Well, except the close-up of your wheel.
One not if anyone goes up to Hurricane Creek. Please stay on the main trail/road. There are several side trails including a few clearings and mud pits. According to my understanding these side trails, clearings, and mud holes are ALL illegal. Please do not go into/through them.
Thanks! | |

| I posted this on the blue room too... I passed a Tundra and 4Runner at the start of the trail that were heading back out. One of them stopped me and said "That sure is a pretty vehicle to be driving up in here". I just looked at him and laughed. He said they didn't make it all the way to "Max Patch"(sp?) because it was too rough to take a vehicle on. I took my pretty FJ all the way through without any issues! haha - Southeast Overland wrote:

Thanks! There were a couple of "side trails" that forked off but didn't go very far. It's hard to stay on the main trail when you don't know where it goes lol. I saw the mud holes you are talking about, someone on the blue room mentioned them too. I'm surprised it hasn't been officially blocked off yet because it looked like some rough spots... - Sun Cruiser 6 wrote:

Hurricane Creek is not a hard trail. (It's actually designated a road by the USFS.) You might take some pinstriping and watch out for the edge. Any stock 4WD vehicle should be able to make it. - Xx_Black-out wrote:

You are right - it can be a little tricky your first time through. I've called the USFS several times offering assistance with road/trail maintenance but have never received a returned phone call.

| Great pics! I had a great time there when I went last January. It was icy though. I'd prefer mud over ice as a few spots were a little sketchy! | |
