| I picked up a pair of these lights and will be installing them as back up lights before too long. Does anyone have any creative ideas on mounting locations? I'm currently debating on:
Cutting them flush into the bumper wings
Creating a bracket and mounting them on each side of the spare tire, down low (mounted to the door)
Maybe extending the window hinge bolts and creating a bracket to mount them to the glass?
I don't really want them on the rack because I hit the rack on a lot of stuff!
Oh, and by the way, I picked them up from mudflaps.com for $161 (after finding a $5 coupon on their facebook page) which is a really good price. Quick UPS shipping and good communication in case anyone else is looking for lights.

| I've been thinking about putting 2 of these on the roof rack. You can put them on the lower bar, out of the way can't you?
I like the idea of flush mounting them in the bumper too. That would be unique but would it throw enough light directly on the ground behind the FJ?

| I'm gonna temporarily wire them up and try a few heights to check the spread on them, but if they're anything like the bar on the front, there will be more than enough light output down low. When I do install these, I'll go ahead and do a write-up for the technical section. | |

| Well, I've at least got to plug them in and test the light output. Frankly, I was disappointed in the spread. For a flood beam, they had a strong hotspot with mediocre flood lighting. I'm gonna have to mount them down low to have any distance, otherwise the hotspot will just light up one area right behind me. I'm now considering putting them on the front and finding another LED bar for the rear. Maybe a 6" Specter since I love the spread of the 10" on the front. | |

| That's disappointing to hear! Keep us posted on what you decide for the rear | |

| I have my 2 backup LEDs mounted to the roof rack; no issues and PLENTY of light... and mine were cheapos (in comparison) from Northern Tool. I like the bumper idea but a PITA is you ever decide to get an aftermarket rear bumper. Either side of the spare might work but Im not sure how that would be done. Heres a pic of my setup. I still need to run a switch to it so its manual on/off... right now they just go on when Im in reverse. | |

| Okay, I'm finally making progress and decided to use the standard Dually LEDs in the back for now. I now have holes in the bumper and am doing a few minutes of work each evening, so it's a little slow going... Lens bezel removed with new, longer screws in the background: New gaskets cut using bezel as a template: Holes cut in bumper while still mounted on the truck: Test fitting the bezels before removing the bumper: More to come as time allows. Also, ignore the scratches, it's a working FJ. | |

| Looks good Ryan! Those are going to be some powerful backup lights!!! I assume youre going to run them to a manual switch on the dash? | |

| Also, I've ordered 3w LEDs for the regular backup lamps for two reasons. One: I wanted the same color backup lights as the Rigid lights. Two: The stock bulbs are 18w and I'll be tying into the stock wiring with no relays for the new Rigid lights. 3w LED bulbs plus 15w Rigid Dually LEDs equals the same load on the stock wiring. It doesn't matter that much since the wire size is actually decent, but I'm just anal.
I'll give a separate review for the 3w LEDs when they come in.

| I'm actually going to wire them in full time with stock lamps, but I will do a switch up front to turn them on manually. Anytime I back up, I'll be bright. If I want to tinkle off someone behind me, I'll also be bright. | |

Nice. I have mine hooked up to the reverse lights right now. I have a switch to turn them on manually, I just need to install it.

| Okay, I was out in the garage at 5am this morning working on this again. The lights are installed in the wings. The wings are installed on the bumper. The bumper is installed on the truck. The wiring is all secured and run through into the cabin. This all happened by about 6:15, so I was productive. I'll hook them up temporarily for now while I figure out exactly what I want to do for switches. Pictures will follow these evening, but they look like they came stock from Toyota | |

| Okay, more pictures! Dually LEDs installed in bumper wings: Oval holes cut in main bumper for oval wiring plug to fit through: End result with wiring run to interior, but not yet hooked up: I know, the fresh paint doesn't match the dirty truck yet, but I'll get it all dirty sooner than later. Next up will be wiring and some night shots, but I doubt that will be until tomorrow. | |

| And we have light!! Standard tail lights as a reference: New 3w CREE bulbs at stock location and Rigid Dually LED floods in the rear wings: View down the passenger side. The trees in the distance are about 3o yards away: View from driver's side hood area, looking back: End result, I can see a lot when I back up. The natural shape of the bumper wings automatically cants the lights outwards which is perfect for backing up, especially using your mirrors. I'm still not crazy about the light pattern on these lights, but I have to admit, they're more than adequate for backing up duties. So far, I've only wired them in directly with the tail lights but I'm heading back out to see if I can do some serious custom wiring for an off switch. I've already left a wiring lead that will run up to the front in the future so that I can turn the lights on whenever I want, but I'm not going to run it to the front until I'm doing some other mod since that's a PITA. | |

| Okay, I've now wired in the sonar switch as my off switch. You can see this here: Reverse Lights via Sonar Switch
I can now turn the lights off when I want, but it is all of my reverse lights, which is fine since I don't really plan on turning them off. I just wanted the capability. Sometime in the future, I'll add an additional switch up front to turn them on when I want, but that'll be much later I'm sure. Other than that, I'm done!
