| So after seeing everyone's FJ at BWW, I decided to treat myself to a birthday present. Plus I truly disliked the Bridgestones that came on it. Today I put on a set of of Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armors. I went up one size to a LT275/70R17. This upgrades me to a LT which will provide better stability for pulling my camper, plus a more aggressive tread. Not to mention they just look better. They are just a tad taller and wider. I had Wranglers way back when I had my CJ7 and they didn't last long. The new Silent Armors have good reviews so I figured I'd give them another try. I didn't go any larger because I don't want to give up pulling power towing the camper. Also staying at this size gave me a load range C which gives me more load capacity than the OEM tires, but still gives a good ride. Not as big or aggressive as others like, but right for me. Only driven them home about 20 miles and I have to say these are good on the interstate. Less road wander than the Bridgestones and quieter. Most of my off roading is at the beach so they should do good. New GY Wrangler Silent Armor tires. They definitely provide a more contact width. Old vs New Hmmm...maybe a dually mod would provide good flotation for the sands of the OBX

| Oh, and this size only comes in OWL so being the fact I don't like seeing white letters inwards, I opted to go ahead and let'em show. | |

| Nice set of treads Ryland! I have a set of the GY Duratracs on the way and I am looking forward to getting them. We have GY tires on our Ram truck and they have been great but are the noisiest tires I have ever had on any vehicle. | |

| That rebate makes a difference eh Ryland? Unfortunately I only get the $40 deal with the Duratracs but it is better than nothing. | |

| Yeah I went with 285's. Man I hope they don't rub. Ya know the new wheels will be a -0- offset while the stockers are a 15 offset so I am hoping for no RUB. | |

| ***UPDATE*** I now have a couple thousand miles and a OBX beach trip on these tires. Happy as hell so far. Quiet, smooth, no wear issues...and GREAT on the sands of the OBX. Had some soft sand and hard sand and a few behind the dune muck puddles. I normally run 40 psi and and didn't air down at the OBX. I had zero issues. No wheel hop, no digging, no getting stuck. Only thing is my pricey little Staun Deflators & compressor sat unused inside the FJ. | |

| I hear ya Rolando, lol. It is pretty amazing how our tires looked as different as they did despite being the same brand and model. Ryland, your tires looked great and obviously held their own out there with us guys having more aggressive tires. The silent armors are certainly at the top of my list when it comes time to get new ones on our Ram 1500. | |

| Got 11k miles on these tires now and still love them. Mostly street and sand miles as I anticipated. Unfortunately with the so called winter we had, they haven't seen snow. In fact, we haven't had any snow other than a dusting since I bought the FJ, figures. I can say with the rains we've had that they really do move the water and keep contact on the pavement. No noticeable wear issues either. | |
