PostSubject: Beach driving questions   Beach driving questions Icon_minitimeTue Sep 27, 2011 9:12 pm

I haven't driven on a beach in about 15 years now... Would I be better off doing the OBX trip with my really worn MT's (about 1/4" tread) instead of putting my new tires on? I'm assuming new MT's would be more prone to digging which is bad in sand as I recall. Also, refresh my memory on any driving tips for the beach, or post some links. Thanks guys!

step 1 let air out of tires, step 2 add weight to right foot, step 3 hold right foot on floorboard, step 4 avoid park rangers

Ok, let's try to keep it on topic please. Just a friendly reminder from the forum administration.

Here is one link I have that provides some helpful information regarding beach and sand driving.

Assuming I make it, I'll have air with me. I'm still trying to coordinate a few things though.

Hope you can make it!

Okay, I'm in and I will have some CO2 with me. Of course if you want my CO2, I might expect a beer in trade...

Quick side note (beer was mentioned), Wally World has a 19 can capacity (and a 44 I think) cooler that can plug into that back outlet. Its very affordable and Im seriously considering it. lol.

You know, Im not sure. I looked at the Coleman website and I know it wasnt nearly that much. I checked Walmart website and all they had was a 40quart one for $100. Obviously the 16quart is way smaller.... I want to say it was around $50 or so. Maybe a little less.

And here I was thinking of borrowing the hotel's ice... Don't worry, I'll bring it back when I drain the cooler that night.

Well, that and my outlet is currently out of commission.

With the 6 speed you might wanna use 4 lo.

I find with my truck with the added weight and bigger tires that the truck will barely pull itself in 4H in any other gear than 1st.

With 4 Lo I run 3rd or 4th and shift fast so you don't loose to much momentum between shifts. You'll get the hang of it after a while but it's a PITA at first.
