| So I've got a 3 inch Donahoe coilover kit on my truck..... I was wondering... anyone ever put any small spacers ontop of a coilover lift kit? Id like to maybe get a little more lift without swapping coilover setup b/c it drives so well!! Just brainstorming at the moment... any comment or advice would be appreciated | |

| You could probably add some Toytec trim packer-type spacers. I think they make a 3/4" | |

| adding that much will actually do more harm than good...will actually lessen the down travel of the shock ..the shock is designed for those springs it will also stiffen the ride substantially... | |

| Even mounting on top of the strut assembly? The 'shock' should still be in the same position relative to the spring. Only harm I can see is CV wear, unless you compensate with a diff drop.
Another viable option is a body lift.

| I'm with you wash as far as I can see the spring and strut would be in the same location based on the original mounting point. now in the rear I believe this would be true because the spacer would cause the strut to be extended farther than it is normaly | |

| Your CV angle is going to get pretty severe and will be your limiting factor. You'll most likely deal with some binding (mostly when the wheel is drooping) and greatly reduced CV life. If you go that route, I highly recommend a diff. drop at a minimum if you don't already have one. There's a reason no one offers more than a ~3" lift on the stock components. | |

| i agree Ryan...you can do a 3 or a 6 but nothing in between and there is a reason. | |

| I eventually plan on adding a body lift to mine too (once tires need replacing). I'd rather go through the hassle of removing the bumpers/winch/etc rather than risk messing something up. | |

| Do you even have to remove it? I know Bandi and some others in the Blueroom made little 1/2 or 3/4" body lifts and they seemed to install them in like an hour?

| If that's the case, then I would go ahead and do it! I had it in my mind that front and rear would have to be removed for proper install, but maybe that's for larger lifts? | |

| Yeah this is the post that made me think it could be really easy (I assume since they are so small) http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forums/general-discussion/123653-what-did-you-do-your-fj-cruiser-today-568.html#post2524409 EDIT: I guess it is more involved - Wikid wrote:
- I did mine by myself in about 5 hours. With another person, it goes relatively quick . You need to put the spacer in the steering column, expose the body mounts from the inside of the truck, I used wood blocks spread out to lift one side of the truck at a time. really not a hard project , just takes a little time and patients
If you get a helper you can get it in a 3 hours I would think
