| I have done this but I chose to run the line into the cabin where the jack is stored. My parts list consists of; -1 12" grease gun hose with 1/8 npt threads on both ends. -6 foot of 1/4" vacuum line -one 1/8" to 1/4" vacuum line connector -one 1/4" Y connector......all 3 ends are 1/4" OD -2 brass 1/8" npt couplings -2 plastic 1/8" npt barbs -zip ties as clamps I purchased the grease gun hose at my Local Tractor Supply store but I have seen it in nearly all auto parts stores. It is typically priced around $5. The vacuum line and vacuum line connectors were purchased at Advance Auto Parts. The two brass couplings were purchased at my local Lowes store in the plumbing supplies section. The two plastic barbs were purchased at Tractor Supply as well. The thing about the barbs is they were the only 1/4" to 1/8" npt barbs I could find anywhere. Like I mentioned, I chose to run my vacuum line through the grommet on the underside of my FJ right where the jack compartment is located. | |

| Wow, thats awesome. Given my snorkel, this was definitely something I wanted to look into doing.
Hey David, if you want, we could tackle both of ours one Saturday or Sunday afternoon. It seems pretty straight forward. Just let me know.

| BTW, thanks Jami for a FANTASTIC write up.... should be pretty easy to find all those little parts now! | |

| Jami, I was looking up this topic in the blue room and came across this writeup.
http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forums/4x4-off-road-tech/29229-scuba-driver-transmission-transfer-case-rear-differential-e-locker-breather-mod.html
It seems much more involved than the one you did. Do you know what the differences are? His seems a bit overkill, but I really dont know enough the topic to say for sure.

For those that have done it, is this a good video? And do you have a parts lict?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Onn2MCNhEqU Thanks for the video David! It was my step-by-step instruction guide. Its pretty good but they dont go over what parts are needed and they skip through somethings that the mechanic doing the mod thought was "second nature". Its definitely a good guide though... I just had to fill in the blanks, so to speak.

| Just picked up the parts to do this mod. I got the hose and grease gun hose at Car Quest for $7ish, then found ALL the other pieces at Ace Hardware (Town and Country in Morrisville) for about $16. Hope to do it Saturday.
I see folks running it into the gas fill area and into the jack compartment. Since it lives under the truck now, why can't I just run it up high under there somewhere?

| That should be fine. With water any higher than the gas tank, not only will you be getting water in the tank but most likely in the entire engine too. | |

| Got the scuba installed today. Did not use the grease gun hose afterall, found a brass barbed fitting to go directly into the diff. Ran the line into the jack compartment. | |

| Cool man. Yeah I'm thinking about going back and extending the hose and getting rid of the grease gun hose. | |

| I used FJNewb's kit from the blue room. I did the rear and ran it into the jack compartment. I have the supplies to do the front, but I've never been able to find the darn things! They are hidden between the firewall and the engine somewhere and my arms won't go down there. I guess they are up higher than the rear breathers, so it should be fine. I would love to eventually get it done if anyone figures it out though..... | |

| I have located them. They are hard to reach (about 1 ft. down from the top of the engine bay). You have to stand to the side and rear of the engine bay to see them. If your FJ is lifted and you are shorter like me, you might have to use step or chair. They are hard to spot. After seeing their location (and elevation) I did not see the need to do the front either. |

| Yeah, I just did the rears. For my purposes, I didnt see a point in doing the fronts since theyre already high up. If Im in water up to the engine, Ive got bigger things to worry about than the breathers!! | |

I was trying to figure out what it was... I'm getting on average about .000045 better since the "sticker mod". |
