| Old Chili is her name. She kind of has that color of chili that's been left in the crock pot, because you ate too much of it while drinking way too much Coors Light, and passed out on the couch. I learned the basics of offroad driving in an '03 Nissan Xterra, and a '96 Cherokee Sport. I don't "wheel" in my FJ, as I am more of an overlander. I wholeheartedly believe in preserving as much of my truck as possible, in order to get the most out of it when I really need it. I purchased it in November of 2011, upon learning that my new job will allow me to move/take it overseas with me (pending specific importation laws, wherever I go). I remember getting in her the first time. I saw the DIFF LOCK switch, and knew I would be signing the papers the next day. She's simple. That said, don't mistake it for a lack of capability. I carry all the necessary recovery equipment, and the knowledge of its use. Spare fuel, water, and provisions are tailored to meet the trips that I take. Always on board is the recovery box, which weighs in excess of 100lbs (but it contains the hand winch as well), medical supplies, and basic "get me home" gear (change of clothes, basic camping equipment, etc...) The mods are listed in my signature, and as you see, I run the Ironman Constant Load kit. I love it. It's a bit stiff, but I don't mind. I will be at the show this year. Probably with some chili and Coors Light, under my awning. | |
