Been looking at my FJ Mod Matrix and want to tackle the BMC! Research indicates a few ways to skin the cat here. Don't want to chop and leave the hole open, so here's three methods others have used.
What are your thoughts/experience?

1. The Big "C" - cut a curved section around the circumference, then fab up a filler plate

2. Horizontal Mambo - cut out a flat section, then fab up a filler plate

3. "Easy as cake" - cut out a pie slice from the body mount, then bend it back

When I did it for a buddy he cut a C in it and i just tack welded a piece of metal on it then beat it around the C. Perfect fit. Didn't look as nice as those but it served its purpose. The easiest way is probably the horizontal cut. No complex bends.

I think it very well may depend on tire size? as the C-cut is the most clearance. For example if you plan on running 35's you might not have much of a choice lol

I won't have time between now and then to install them. I wish I would have thought of that. I could have put them on Sunday.

Went the horizontal mambo route. Was a fun, easy, and cheap mod. I can use the money saved doing it myself on bigger tires now, ha! Gave the mud flaps a trim job, I have a feeling they may need to go altogether in the near future.
