2013 Show?

My charity votes are for either veterans or animals. And I really can't vote on dates because I will be working every weekend from Easter to Thanksgiving so....yeah.

I see alot of veterans and animals as points of interest.

Is there any reason we couldn't pick a charity to benefit, but also get several rescue groups together to do an adoption fair all in the same location? We don't have to fund the rescue groups or anything, but they'd get some extra press, as would the NCFJ group. We could make the show a bit more pet friendly too so some of us can bring our pets with us.

I like these ideas.

I really like that idea. I would love to bring my two pups with me if I can go.

I am all about helping my fellow man, woman, and child. I personally wish I had the means to make a difference in the life of a child or in the life of a family in need. Maybe it's a family where the parents have both lost there jobs and can barely provide for their kids. Guys, I have been unemployed a few times in my life due to layoffs or business closing so I know how hard it can be. I consider myself an educated individual as well as my wife so it can happen to anyone.

i totally love this idea....no real need to single out a charity...i like the idea of a "pet" fair ...and honestly i would love to show off our monsters!!!...and kids love our dogs!!!

My brother-in-law spent several years there from 5-8 undergoing cancer treatments. Wasn't supposed to live past the 1st surgery at 5 years old. He's 37 now. Take that cancer!

What if we held the show at Jim Berkley of Asheville? I am pretty sure some of the guys that work there wheel a good bit and I bet they would be pumped to have an FJ show there. Just a thought.

Raleigh is pretty much the middle of the state and seems like it would be convenient for most. However, I would be willing to drive that far and make a weekend out of it if somebody (who knows the area) would head up a trail run on that Sunday for everyone! I'm 100% game for that anywhere there's some great scenery.

Most of the trails may still be closed, not sure though.

URE opens the 29th of March this year.

I vote Victory Junction, RMH or Make a Wish. To me, children are the most helpless in society, and I would much rather give my money to helping them.

That said, the only thing I don't like about Make A Wish, is the President/CEO's compensation. $441k/year. Wow! I believe anyone running an organization that large deserves decent pay, but that seems over the top for a charity.

couldnt agree with you more Nick...its baffling as to why the head of a charity needs so much...its almost an oxymoron ...help out people who have nothing or cant do for themselves yet that much goes to folks who can do for themselves and have alot!! its wrong in my book!
