Ok... dumb question here... Is the front just still for FM radio and you guys are converting the front just to look like the boztec mounted antenna... or are you running the CB through it?

Paul, I will be running mine as Front: AM/FM tuned firestik for the radio only.
Rear: for CB only. I just wanted the front to have more of a matching look.

OK so I highway tested the antenna today on the way to work. and at 80mph I could literally see the antenna out of my passenger door window. Shocked So needless to say I have since trimmed the stud and removed the spring. The no spring test went much more normal, lol.
As far as reception I would honestly say it has to be 10 to 15 % better now based on #of stations it receives.

So I cannot speak for setups with 2' or 3' antenna with springs but 4' and spring is a no go.
I assume the only reason the rear antennas do not flex this far is because they are mostly shielded from direct airstream. IDK?! Whatever it is I am pleased with the setup for now.

Good to know man! I was actually going to start with no spring and see how the 2' antenna worked. I'll let you know come Friday!

Edited pic from ASI today. New wheels on, nice stance.

planemechFJ's Build - Page 5 Img_0310
Pic from the gas station showing new wheels.

planemechFJ's Build - Page 5 Img_0217
Grainy pic of new wheel on back door.

All of my pics of the BMC are very washed out and grainy. I will take a pic of the finished product tomorrow. Along with some more of the wheels.
The team at ASI was great. Could not be happier with the results the BMC looks Factory, tires look good considering I'm pushing the 265's as wide as they can go. The guys got my alignment tweaked until it was almost perfect. Definitely drives better now. Overall very good day, hangout with some good people while getting to have some work done on the FJ.

I know right. Almost all my photos are with an iphone 5 but I just can not get a good pic in low light. with good lighting it does great but low light or images with the flash it is garbage.

Ok got some better pictures this morning.

Drivers side BMC.

Same side just from the front. No pics of the passenger side but you get the idea.
I have not trimmed the mud flap yet. Whenever tires go on I will.

Now some clearer shots with the new wheels.

Front view trying to show the amount of poke, looks nice but would be much better with some 285 or 295s.

Yup... those wheels are MEAN! It'll be even better when you get the bigger tires too, but it still looks great! And that BMC is unbeatable! Good meetin' ya man!

Took advantage of this beautiful weather and finally installed a set of front mudflaps on the rear.

Obligatory comparison shot.

Front installed on drivers side.

Easy little mod that I think really improves the look.
