| I gave the smoky cruiser a new lift, and ucas. I went with old man emu 3 inch expedition duty. The lift was fairly easy install. The only really hard part was putting the coliovers together in place by using a breaker bar to flex the lcas down outta the way. All went well. I also installed the Light Racing ucas at the same time. They were a pain as I had to remove the battery, and slightly bend the flange on the edge of the body in the wheel well. So I then rode it to richland rd. I noticed my mpg was at like 8 mpg on the way to walmart. The next day once I got home I saw the cupping on the inside 3 inches of my tires. The alignement was so bad It chewed a ton outta my inner trewad up front. Today I finally adjusted the alignement and was able to drive to work and back without the tires being molested by that harsh pavement. I am still getting a slight metallic clunking on my drivers side. I have read all I can find just wondering if any else has had this problem? | |

| Is the clunking during normal driving, or is it when hitting bumps, flexing? | |

| Yeah i got the battery in correct, and the coilovers are clocked correct 100%sure. The noise only happens when hitting washboard style bumps, or big rocks on the trails. My drive way is a long and bumpy spo this is a little bothersome. I have checked all bolts nust and the swaybar no probs. I even snugged e front body mounts to insure that the heavies were not making them make noise??????? | |

| Have you checked the brake lines at the UCA? Are they secure? There aren't many small parts to make noise and most of the larger ones would make larger noises than what you're describing. Any chance the inner fender liner is loose and whacking something? | |

| Subject: slapping metal noise Wed Oct 17, 2012 7:12 pm | |
| It is like a slapping metal on metal noise. I ran it up a long washboard gravel rd today on the way home. It slapp slap slippity slapp slapps up the washboards. It is driving me nuts. I am gonna call toytec whom I bought the ome lift from and see what I need to look at. It was dead quiet befor the new lift. I was running a space lift that I thought would be more prone to bad engineering problems, but it was dead quiet during extreme fire road assaults. | |

| Bushings, or loose anything (maybe a brake line), could be something totally unrelated to your lift, maybe a messed up front axle, loose bolt somewhere outside the new lift. It is hard to track down noises sometimes. Something you think is coming from the front might be coming from the middle, or rear - been there, done that. | |

| I have the lsr ucas so they have brand new well greased bushings, and my lower ones seem fine. They had a ton of resistance when I had the suspension apart. No play at all whatsoever. Are there any other bushings I should check? I have repeatedly checked all the parts on the suspension and all bolts in that area. | |

| Can you take a pic of the UCA's as they are mounted? | |

| Did someone play a funny on your and zip tie your drive shaft?
The bushings in the front LCAs can get work and pretty much come apart. The best way to tell is to pull the LCAs off and check. | |

| Yeah I guess they could be worn, but they were fine immediately befor the work. My drive way sets the noise off so they were fine then instantly not fine? I am gonna get my alignement guy to look it all over before the obx. | |

| I think it is the stiffness of the springs some how making the shocks top out during repeated hits from washboard style roads. Also happens if I hit a speed bump at like 15mph. The quick drop of the stiif ars springs I think lets the shocks top out???? | |

He's been with Scott a few times lately... I'd definitely check that! |
