| Thought I had posted this already, but can't find it. Anyway, if you've not been to The Flats in Marion, it's a nice change of pace. Many very difficult trails that we can't do - but they do have a nice playground area with some rocks and neat hill climbs. Then a fairly easy trail through the woods with a few challenges.
I'm camping 5 miles from there this weekend, so planning to go for an hour or two on Saturday or Sunday.
"Rock Corps 4x4 Club would like to invite everyone to join us for our open invite and our annual TOY RUN. As many of you know we have held a toy run or toy drive to support our local kids that are in need for Christmas. We are having our ride a few weeks early this year because of other events that are going on in Sept. & Oct. The board is meeting in a week or so to discuss allowing SIDE BY SIDES to our open rides now. This will be updated and we will let you know for sure. Watch for updates about a possible raffle and hill climb challenge!
SIDE X SIDES ARE WELCOME AT THIS RIDE!!! Gates open on the 24th @11:00am and will close @5:00pm the 26th $10 a person and $10 a rig - Kids 16 and under free (If you bring a toy or toys,it will equal $10) Primitive camping is available (Use fire ring w/ fires please) Porta johns onsite. Motorhomes and campers are welcome. We have plenty of room!! Motels and stores within 1 mile of the park. Concessions will be Saturday. Chicken and bar-b-que plates and hotdogs and burgers We do have an RC course now for all the guys with RC crawlers"

| When you say trails we CAN'T do...does that mean they are for crawlers only? Will there be folks there that will be tackling these and we can watch? | |

| Lots of buggies and beaters that will be doing everything there. They are even having some payout races on some of the tough stuff. There's still enough for the mild built trucks to do. | |

| If anything - it's for a good cause. And trust me, when you see the rigs there, you'll realize just how mild we all are.... | |

I went on Sunday only for about an hour. There were only a handful of folks there on Sunday, so pretty much had the place to yourself. I didn't venture off the green trails though. Had to be able to tow the trailer home, so didn't want to risk breaking something. The Flats is a nice place, but there really aren't many intermediate trails. It's either very easy, or very difficult. Some fun little hill climbs make it worth it though.

| Nearly two months on most of them... do not go if your more than a few hours from there or are willing to try the hard stuff. My brother and i were there Saturday and he won the hill climb challenge. We also managed to snap a bilstein shock and bend an abxe housing on his Toyota asked buggy. | |
