When she gets to that due date and still hasn't popped the kid out, nothing better to get things started than bouncing on some trails Smile

Hey Bobby - did you get a chance to look at the sidewall and see if it says it's 2 ply or 3 ply?

2 ply guys but these puppies are heavy but still only 2 ply E load rating to. I find 42psi is the sweet spot on the streets for me.

Nice, That's actually Phils Beast in the picture. One of his friends used it for some kind of pre apocalypse art. I can't call it a car or suv anymore. It's a machine Twisted Evil i'm calling it the Sickness,

I have some issues with my new tires not being able to get balanced properly. I went back and had them rebalanced because I was getting some shaking in the floor and steering wheel. Drove around for a couple of days no problems then it started again. I brought them back to discount for a balance check and sure enough they were off by about 7-8 oz. At this point I was like well they're heavy tires but now 3 tries latter and it's happened once again and Discount says they will just replace my tires due to (being out of round) if I want with the same tire or another brand and they recommend the BF Goodrich.

I also noticed that my front passenger tire has a big lug on the verge of falling off, this is in the center of the tire. 3 lugs look like they have some tearing and one is almost ripped off like a 1" chunk. I didn't really even spin my tires last time we were out so I am kind of concerned. Looking at BF Goodrich KM2 as my possible replacement but I really like my Kooks for an all around tire but after this not so sure about them. Also, looking at the KO but I really want the MT performance and strength.

So to sum it up, I have had my tires rebalanced 3 times now over the past month and now I have a large lug about to fall off one tire.

Sounds like the exact same problems I had with the Coopers. I'm much happier with the KM2's now. I think they're very quiet compared to the Coopers - which people all say are very quiet. Plus they have the 3 ply sidewall for the real fun Smile

BFG km2s are a great set of tires. I have about 15-18000 on mine still ride smooth and true. Also they offer excellent traction.

Thanks for the feed back on the KM2's I think I will just switch over to them and be done with it. I really like the kooks looks and they rode nice on the rd until the balancing issues started. I guess I should start a new thread entitled "Done with the Kooks" , lol.

That sux, sorry to hear your woes continue...I am hopeful that by the time my Duratracs are done (the one with the sidewall gouge is starting to split) you'd have "my," er, I mean "your" testing and evaluation complete! Very Happy

I say try the Toyo MTs, 255/85/16. If they don't work then have them switch these out for something else too. Be our unofficial tire tester!

I really like the Toyo MT but they're heavy tires and my wheels are 16X8.5" so a tall skinny tire is out of the question for me. I will be going with a 285/75r16 more then likely the KM2 which i should of ordered the first time looking back. I thought i'd give these Hankook's a shoot. The BF Goodrich is an overal stronger/better tire with more cords, stronger belts and a 3ply sidewall that also has stronger cords and an advanced rubber compound. There is a good write up on them in the latest Toyota 4wd owner mag.

Let's hear some comments on the KM2's

Everyone's first instinct is to try something new and different, instead of the same 'ol tire everyone else is running. That was my initial thought process when I went with the Coopers. Lesson learned. The reason the same 'ol tire is used by everyone is because it just plain works well. It's a good looking tire also - looks very much like the Krawlers.

And the sound is much more pleasant on the road. The Coopers weren't loud, but the sound was more of a higher pitch, which wore me out on the highway. The BFG's are probably the same decibel level, but a much deeper pitch which is almost not noticeable on the highway. With the radio on, I could still hear the Coopers, where now with the radio on, I can't hear the BFG's.

Yep, 285/75R16 KM2. The funny thing is when I was at the store ordering mine they were getting in a set of KM2's for someone else and they were 35's or 315/75R16! I had to go take a look at them bad boys. maybe it was a sign pirat

Switched to the KM2's and there's no turning back. Initial impressions are

A W E S O M E.

These feel amazingly smoother and more responsive then the Kooks did on the street and my throttle even seems a little more responsive. These are 4 lbs lighter and about a half inch thinner then the Kooks were. I was a little sad to see the Kooks go but the KM2's look a million times better and more aggresive. These things are chunky, I had a chance to do a side by side comparison of the sidewalls and the Kooks seemed thin compared to the KM2's. The KM2's seemed stout and thick. I can't wait to put these in the dirt and I almost went outback last night but it was getting late.

Over all very happy with the swap Very Happy

Or just let Casey borrow it so he can report back on them!

Those look perfect! Nice balance of aggressive off-road texture with proportional size relative to the vehicle. Plus they are known good high quality tires that will last a long time and perform great on the trails.
