I was just checking out a new 4RNR in another thread, nice rig. Too pretty to take in the woods for sure, although I had my FJ at Tellico 2 months after I got it Smile

It got me to thinking about what level I could build a 60 to with the price of the new 4RNR. $20 K would go a long way toward building a very nice 60 with a suspension and power train overhaul and a new interior. That is about half the 4RNR. I would think you could build something decked out at $30K.

Question is, what would you do?

I'd definetly get a nice 100 series lexus or toy lancruiser. Already equipped with locker etc. Just a nice lift redo motor for a 6bt cummins rebuilt, new tranny if its bad, all new bushings etc. tires rims, lift etc. Youll be under20k and much much more prepared for offroad in style and a plush comfort zone.

I would get a Trail edition, it comes with a rear locker and upgraded Crawl system that LC's have as well as the KDSS with sway bar disco and ATRAC. A built 5th gen is sexy~! In black!!! I would add an ARB front locker, front/rear bumpers, sliders, 33's and be sitting pretty as a DD and trail machine. This would also be the most expensive option.

If I got a LC it would be a 60 series with the round head light or an FJ55 series. I love those things but it would be a project vehicle for sure. The 80 and 100 sereies have some very nice interior features though.

Currently I have had my 4th gen for 5 years and I am loving it!

The 4Runners are nice rigs - but Stan you definitely have the ability to build a cool and very capable rig out of a 60 and have the cool 'old' factor.
