| Occasionally my mirror lights do not come on with the headlights. if you smack the top of the mirror they'll usually pop on. is this a short in the wiring or perhaps a bulb loose, combination of both? is there an easy way to fix it? Thanks! | |

| If you look up mirror diffuser removal it will show you how to take the mirror off then you can check, while your in there remove the diffuser and replace your bulbs with some brighter ones and then you've got extra fog lights. | |

| I figured by now that someone would come up with an LED unit to replace the stock housing... no sign of it where I've looked. I've only seen a post in the BR about a light that was sort of small enough to go in it's spot, but the mods needed weren't worth it. | |

I've done the LED conversion and there is a link in my signature for the write-up on how to do it. Cost is about $40.00 and is one of the coolest/easiest mods I've done. |

| I had these Yellow LEDS in my 2008, and will be putting them in again my 2013 once it warms up. They are 5W LEDS and very bright, just plug in to the existing 194 bulb socket. No modifications needed.
The key to getting the mirrors on and off is use a hair dryer and warm up the underside of the mirror first, as the plastic clips are very brittle and will snap off if cold. A little silicon spray on the clips helps get it back on.

| Do they actually put out enough light to make a difference on the road, or would you say it's more for looks? | |

| Yes, a 5W LED is about 10X brighter than a 5W standard light bulb. I've been using these LED bulbs for 4 years now, and they have not burned out. It's not going to light up the road like a fog light, but they are 10x brighter and get noticed. I had first tried orange light bulbs (polarg lens type), and they were just as dim as the stock bulbs. These Amber 5W LED wedge bulbs are available from http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008QKUK42/ Unlike some other mirror light mods, no cutting required, these are simple pop in LED bulb replacements.

| These are not expensive, and worth a try.
I've read about other mods where they cut out the mirror lights and mount something else in there - too much work. This is simple and effective.

| I will post a photo of these 5W LEDS in place, once it warms up, hopefully in a week or so.
It's still snowing up here today.

| Mine are very bright and are the ones Michael mentioned. A link to the how to is in my signature.
They are bright enough that one my white FJ I will be doing the hood blackout (or something similar) soon to knock down the glare at night. |

That's the reason I went with the basic amber replacement bulbs. I can't stand the glare off my front antennae even with those, so I'll stick with non-LED lights. The Ozs look awesome on other trucks though! I've got several of the Ozniums around that I'll use for other projects, both in amber and warm white.
