| Pizza cutters refer to narrow tires. The 255/85/16 or 255/80/17 being the most common of these. In these sizes they tend to be a little taller, and about 1" narrower than the 285/75/16 or 285/70/17 respectfully. There are benefits and negatives to everything. I run the 255/85/16s on my FJ. |

| Ok, so I'm running the stock size 265/17. Would putting 255/80/17's run taller than stock? I can envision what you're talking about. I think I'd like that look too. | |

| Yeah almost an inch more ground clearance with pizza cutters... They are usually 33"+ in diameter, but are skinny enough to avoid hitting the body mounts. | |

I think the stock size is about 31.7" and the 255/80/17 (only options for a 17" rim are BFG KM2s) are 33.3" |

| Wow, just looking at the wear life/fuel efficiency, etc. stats for this tire. The practical side of me says NO! :-/ | |

| That is any Mud terrain tire. The only "pizza cutters" for 17" rims are MTs Mileage really isnt that bad, due to only being slightly heavier than the stock tire. |

| Looking on the website, there doesn't appear to be a size for the A/T tire. That can't possibly be right. | |

| Good looking out Brian! I believe the A/T's will be my tire of choice when the time comes. I've run them on several Jeeps I've owned and a traditional SUV. They've always been good. Long lasting, quiet, good mpg, etc... | |

| I really don't drive enough to worry about fuel economy. No girlfriend in Virginia anymore, so gone are the 400 mile round trips every week or few weeks. I daily drove my Ramcharger for a full year with a 4" lift, 33x12.50s, a three speed automatic, and if the fj is brickish the ramcharger is a solid brick wall. I was lucky to get maybe 8-10 per gallon on it and I was fillin' up a 35 gallon tank weekly. ANYTHING is better then that.
EDIT: If I can find a set for a good price around then, I might scrap the 17" wheels and get some 16"ers. I miss the extra sidewall.

| The BFG ATs are definitely tried and true as far as FJ tires go!. A 285 would be pretty sweet on there! The General Grabber AT2s are also a very similar tire...They look a little better in my opinion. Had them on my 17s before finding the TRD wheels w/ tires I currently have. | |

| Man those general's do look good. What's the cost dif between those and the BFG's? I would imagine cheaper cause BFG thinks their stuff is made of gold, but then again, it's a quality tire. What notch do you have your 5100's on? Are you running 285's or the stock 265? | |

| They were like $160 each installed (265/70/17) when I got them way back. That is an old picture...no 5100s. Mine is leveled on the 3rd notch as of now with stock (16") size Yokohamas that came with the Craigslist find TRDs Current (yes I am a picture whore)

| Y'all are jackin' my gorram thread! Hahahaha
I'm also tossing the option of staying stock sized or running a cheap leveling kit and BMC and getting some MTRs. Probably my favorite dual purpose tire, really.

| Gotcha. I'm running the 5100's on the 3rd notch also and plan to stick wit the stock tire size when the time comes. I'll wheel, but nothing crazy - no Daniel at URE for me! | |

| Well, I finally have legitimate reason to update this thread! The Warturtle got some new shoes!
I finally bit the bullet and picked up some 255/80 BFG KM2s. I love the little bit of extra height and the lack of necessitation of a lift or BMC. I'm slowly squirreling away my pennies and dimes for a set of sliders, should have them within the next few months.
Naturally, pictures will be forthcoming.

| Well, I picked up a set of lightly used factory sliders from Scott Haynes off of the groups facebook page. $75 and in good condition (he even rattle canned over the pre-existing scratches for me!). Great guy to deal with, and helped a ton in getting them on the FJc.
Pictures will be snapped up on this weekends Uwharrie adventure!
(PS: Anyone want a pair of lightly used factory running boards?)

| Finally, a freakin' update actually worth of a build thread!
Got my new Toytec BOSS suspension system installed today. Still needs one hell of an alignment, but my initial experience of the ride on road is... pretty damn fantastic. I didn't want to go too fast with it out of alignment, but corners at 30-40mph feel flatter and with less roll. Ride comfort is, at first glance, at least as good as stock, maybe a touch better. Even better, there's no more bloody nose diving under moderate breaking (haven't tested it under hard breaking yet).
I sprung for the UCA and 5160 rear shocks. No pictures of the install, one of my dads partners has a family member who is an out of work welder and mechanic he is helping move his life to our home town as the head of an auto shop he is opening to help fund his racing team. Had him install it so we could evaluate his work and, well, give him some work. I'm very impressed, when they are fully set up I will post more about the shop in case anyone ever needs work in the Lynchburg, Va area.
Pictures of the finished product (and my sexy new defensive design sliders) will come tomorrow morning after the alignment. Also doing a really easy shake down run to Shoe Creek tomorrow with my dad, hopefully he can snap some pictures while we're there. Nothing challenging, just a shake down run.
