PostSubject: I have some suggestions   Thu May 12, 2011 2:28 pm

Ok, First off I would like to say that having our own forum is pretty awesome. Thanks to the admins for providing it.

So I've only been using the forums for a few minutes now. And just skimming through I have a couple suggestions. Hopefully you guys don't hate me after. Razz

1. I think that since this is a local forum, we probably won't get as many members and frequent posters as say the big blue room. (I hope that we do though, more FJ's the better). That said, I think the forum page is a little too long.

I would suggest making all the product review threads into one sub forum. So instead of having reviews for skid plates, tires, and suspension. Maybe just have one big Review section. And people can use it the same way, just put what they are reviewing in the title.

Also, The News room. Maybe just have one big subforum titled News or General Discussion. As long as it's toyota related it should all be relevant. Smile

----

2. I think its awesome we have a "How To" thread. I got many ideas from our meet that I've never even seen on the blue forum. To expand on that, I think it would be cool to see a "Build thread" In the same 'Garage' subforum. Seeing the progress of our local FJ brethren is always fun.

----

3. This is more of a personal thing. But I think having the most posted in subforums closer to the top would be more convienant for people with mobile phones and small monitors. Like trail discussion could be moved a little lower. But I would put the "Garage" Under events.

----

4. Last, I know the forum is fresh and brand spanking new. So I'm sure everything is WIP. I just noticed that the banner stands out a bit from the black/grey/yellow theme of the forum. I think a integrated banner would be nice. If you need help with this maybe I could design something this weekend.

Ok I'll stop. Of course you can ignore my suggestions, no problem with that. I was just thinking of ways of making navigation more seamless and better for everyone.

- I agree the forum window is a bit long. I will look at ways to shorten it

- I have something in mind with this structure. I want to run it for a bit then re-evaluate.

- I agree on with your news room suggestion. I am thinking of combining it into one subgroup under the News Room. Any one else with other thoughts?

- I love the BUILD section idea - I created it in the Garage. Thanks Fonnie!

- I like this idea, in the next few weeks I will re-evalute the structure and amount of posts in each section and will adjust the topics in order of the more popular at the top.

- LOL....I personally think the same. I think it may be fun to have members design a banner, submit them to me. I will then create a poll so everyone can vote on their favorite and we could use that banner. What does everyone think? (I also have Jason Stanley looking into coming up with a banner as well so we can put multiple banners to a vote)

Fonnie, I liked the idea of combining the news room into one section, so I did it....I decided to do it now before it had more posts to moe, to make it easier for me, so thanks for the suggestion.

I also cleaned a few more things up as well.

Thx again for the suggestions!

David

The owner of this site is another mom in my son's class...

http://www.vistaprint.com/custom-banners
Has a new XL size (8' x 2.5') Big enough to draw crowds at trade-shows and outdoor markets.

I love the koozie idea! I looked at the collapsable ones and if we ordered 40, it comes out to a little under $4 per person.... not too shabby. Obviously, the more we order, the more the price goes down.

The vistaprint website wasnt working but Ive ordered some business cards from them before.
