| im in the market to buy new tires...id like to go to 33+" if at all possible...i know that i will more than likely have to do a body mount chop ..so on and so forth...i own a 2011 Fj with the 17" bullet hole wheels..i love the wheels but i dont want to tear them apart while im on the trails..i know that i can buy 17" wheels (steelies) and most likely will have to add spacers to them...again im fine with that...my real question is this...WILL 16"WHEELS FIT THE 2011 FJ...I am curious abou this as obviously 16" tires are cheaper than 17" ...my main concern is the brake calipers...for 16" wheels to fit what must i do?? | |

| stick with 17's.... I have noticed that no really good tires or sizes come in a 16 anymore. You either run a 17 or go old skool and run 15's but you dont have that option.
I am pretty sure that you can run the steelies wtih no spacer though.

| All of the TRD/TT wheels are 16s. I like my 255/85/16s They are about the tallest 33" (33.3) you can get and not have to do the body mount chop. They are more narrow than the other 33s, but some people do not like the aesthetics of this. |

| The off road package comes with 16's and I stayed with them...I bought 16x8" Raceline Renegade 6 wheels and have no caliper clearance problems with them. In fact I have the five alluminum 16" off road wheels if anyone is interested | |

| Based on my research there isn't a need for a gearing change. I dropped less than 1 mpg (currently averaging 18.5-19 mpg). This was going from BFG Ats to BFG KM2s which are a MT tread. I was thrilled to have the more aggressive tread and still retain good gas mileage. This tire is only about 2 lbs more than the stock BFG AT. |

| If you stick with a 33~ there's no need for a re-gear
Now 35's are a different story.

| No need to regear but you will be a lot Harper if you do. I'm running a 32 and dropped to4.10 from 3,73 with a v8 and auto. You will not regret gearing to stay at stock ratios. | |

| ok i talked to Summit Racing today and i have my prices on the BFG KM2...two different sizes...285/70 17 or 285/75 17.....there is exactly 15/16" difference in height which translates to around 5/8 in radius...and less than a 1/2 inch in width...not gonna say which is more expensive as its actually deceiving...so which would you choose..???? | |

| The 285/75s are going to be an inch taller tire. With that width, I am pretty sure you are going to have to do a body mount chop. I eventually want to run a 34" tire, but right now I am not prepared to do the chop, regear, or suffer the loss in gas mileage. Perhaps as mine gets closer to end of warranty.
However if you are I say go for it! I think 34" tires are the perfect size and look awesome. |
