Identifying springs Empty
PostSubject: Identifying springs   Identifying springs Icon_minitimeSun Sep 01, 2013 4:44 pm

I bought my FJ used. It definately has a lift of some sort, but I am not exactly sure what all has been done. I know it has a 3/4" spacer, but it looks like i have more than just a spacer lift. So, I was wondering if anybody could help with a way to identify what springs i have. Do the various manufacturers put markings or anything else on their springs? Maybe a coil count or something like that would help.

Here are a few pics of the springs that are on it right now(the shocks are definitely stock)

A pic of the truck so you can see how much of a lift it has.

I need new shocks but am trying to figure out what I have spring wise before I start ordering parts.

Thanks for the help.

yeah thats gonna be a tough one there bro...you might be able to tell if they were off the truck ...the pics are a little to generic ...You wont go wrong with going with the Bilstein 5100s ..adjustable and will pretty much work for any spring...

Just Dortin took a look at them while we were at URE today. Like me, He was of the opinion they weren't stock either. He is gonna do some checking for me and see what he can come up with. I want to go with a toytec lift but its hard to justify the money if I already have decent aftermarket springs.

Those are stock springs. I'd say it is only a spacer lift... the 3/4" spacer equates to much more lift due to suspension geometries.

thanks wash, you are exactly right. I just didn't realize a spacer would make that big of a difference. Time to go shock and spring shopping Very Happy
