Volant CAI with Powercore Filter? Empty
PostSubject: Volant CAI with Powercore Filter?   Volant CAI with Powercore Filter? Icon_minitimeSun Apr 28, 2013 3:10 pm

I picked up a Volant CAI at the NCFJ show Saturday from Jerrod.
I am curious if anyone else has this CAI and what you think about it. I also am looking foor some direction as to how to install the unit.
Will contact Volant but figured I would check here first.

I had one and it was great! It does add a little bit of noise when you really give it the go juice but nothing crazy just makes it sound a little more throaty. As far as install it is pretty straight forward, just take out the old and put in the new.
Biggest thing though is to disconnect the battery while you do the install. If you do not, as soon as you start it up it will throw all kinds of lights. I did that and it lit up like a christmas tree. Apparently the MAF has to reset and that is what the battery disconnect is for. That is the only thing that really sticks out in my mind as far as the install goes. Good luck!

Just disconnect the negative? or both or does it matter. I was just out looking at it and it looks like there is a lot to remove...
Also, I am thinking I will get a Pro-5 filter instead of the PowerCore that was in it originally. I have to replace the existing filter and the Pro-5 is a bit cheaper and I already have a cleaning kit for my K&N that I can use.

I was just about to add that I had the pro-5 filter, worked great for mine. I would also get the prefilter if you plan on being in any dusty areas, just to save the main filter life.

You can just disconnect the negative. There is alot that comes out from the stock intake, but it is all done pretty easily. If I remember right all the bolts are either 8mm or 10mm.
