| Hey guys.... just got my new cb and antenna installed last night! I was actually pretty impressed with the little Midlands unit. I do live on top of a mountain, but after swr tunning the 3 foot fire stick (about 1.1-1.5) i was able to talk with some fellas loud and clear over 25 miles away!! Anyways my question is how and where are you guys mounting your handhelds in your fj? Thanks ahead of time for any help! | |

| I have wanted to come up with something for awhile, but since I don't use it very often I didn't want anything stuck anywhere. I saw mikes hangin' from his mirror this week and that made my decision easy. That is where it will be when I use it. | |

| Walmart actually. I have a ton of extra... came in probably a pack of 16 or 20. I can bring them to URE if anybody wants some. Takes a little trial and error to get the hole how you want it (so the CB goes on and off smoothly). I wanted an elliptical shaped one so it would center itself better. EDIT: these are it | |

| ^^ Definitely convenient.
That is the drawback to the Midlands... You have to be reasonably close to the power socket, unless you add or move the power source.

| Mitch i like that set up however the Midland is a bit harder to do that with..IWASHMYCAR im eager to find out how that set up will do off road with the movement of the vehicle rocking and pitching... | |

| Oh okay, I wasn't sure how tough it would be to add an extra socket, or how much space you would need. | |

I've done Hurricane twice and Richland once with it on there. I also leave it on the hook all the time on-road. Stays just fine. It is very easy to grab on the trail. Takes a little conscious effort to hook it back on on the really bumpy stuff I will admit. Even with my papers and everything flying out of my overhead console (visor area) the CB stays put lol
